I'll say it again: unless you can set software restriction policies on your own machines there is a place for CryptoPrevent.

You'll need to spell out that link or something...

Ah yeah. The profanity filter.

The people that produce CryptoPrevent are Foolish IT. Their website is that name, without the space, dot com.

They must have removed the change for embedded****, maybe the pattern is true****embedded?

So yeah, i installed cryptoprevent on my wife's computer. My kids are also using it and I don't want **** to happen

Sound plan. I've used it for a couple of years now and they seem pretty responsible as a service provider. If you have the free version the only trick is remembering to update it from time to time.

Let them use virtual machines

Windows 10 strange issue:

After the recent update (maybe?), my desktop has started behaving like my mac upon restart - it's opening whatever programs I had open, at least browsers, and going to the pages I was on.

Mac has this option, which is nice when you can control it, but this is annoying.

I searched the 'start these programs when windows loads' area that I know to look for (win+r -> shell:startup), but it was empty. Not sure where else to look.

I'd just use autoruns to prevent the startups.

Check the power options? Win 10 is notorious for hibernating / sleeping / etc rather than properly shutting down. You may need to switch off the fast boot option etc.

You could also look at File Explorer - Options - View and check whether "Restore previous folder windows at log-on" is checked.

But otherwise shell:startup is where I'd be looking too.

Watched first season but lost interest.

Kero says we can have a security thread here btw, just maybe go light on details of actual processes to do exploits iirc
