Goal: To make a list of books per author that I have read; want to read; want to buy, and perhaps a column for comments. I have essentially done this, but I can't figure out the key component - how to sort the entire thing A to Z.

I can sort a column, but just that one. I'm hoping there's a way to do the whole sheet.

Perhaps this is just what happens when using a phone for a spreadsheet, but the sheet moves around so much it makes me dizzy. I don't understand how people can organize so much of their daily needs using this little screen. I guess I'm just too used to a desktop.

If there's no easy way to sort Google Sheets on android, can someone suggest an alternative ? Thank you!

There should be a select all feature, but I can't find it.

Try tapping to the left of Column A, in that blank space above where Row 1 is.

That certainly works for me on my Google Sheets on my android.

I can get it that it selects all when I do that, but there is no option anywhere for sorting.

This is what I did:

1) Tap on the button to select all (left of column A, above row 1)

2) Tap on the triple dot menu in the top right corner

3) Tap on 'Create a filter'

4) Next to the column header you want to sort by, tap on the three little horizontal lines, and choose how you want to sort or filter the whole thing

Then it does indeed sort by Column A which is the column I chose, but Columns B and C are not A to Z. Is there a way to include B and C?

It should sort the whole sheet according to Column A. If you want to sort by a different column, then choose a different column in (4) above.

Column A is the Author, Column B is the books I have read by that author, and Column C is other books the author has written that I am looking for.

I want the list sorted A to Z by Author, and then the book titles in Column B, should be A to Z for each author they represent and so on. It's not letting me extend the sort to include other columns. If I sort Column B, it will just sort all the titles listed and they will have no association with the authors in Column A.

I appreciate your time. I must be doing something wrong, but at this point, at least I have the authors sorted and their respective book titles are in Column B, though not sorted. I can live with that. Thanks so much!

"Group Column" individual columns first then sort, so if you have 3 columns you'd have 3 groups.
