Can you please elaborate? I find the whole truecrypt process to be kind of a hassle. I've just set up dropbox to sync my keepass files between computers/mobile but having to install truecrypt and then mount and dismount your files seems a lot of work just for an extra layer of security?

Using dropbox on the laptop to sync hh's is a great idea.

Can anyone recommend a good software to sync (back-up) files to an external drive ?

Can this be done automatically?

What is necessary to get synced hhs on 2 computers?

If you want to maintain two separate DB's with the same hand histories then: Download dropbox on both computers, set you poker clients to store your hh's in a dropbox folder and set your tracker on both comps to import from those dropbox folders. This also has the advantage of giving you an online backup of your hh's.

How does this interact with the functions of the databases to move/archive HHs after being imported?

If the hh's are moved after importing then that won't work very well, so I think you have to leave the hh's where they are. I think HEM is smart enough to not re-import the files that have already been imported.

Personally I prefer to just run a db server on one computer and then use the same database over a VPN.

There is a much more elegant approach than any of the advice mentioned so far, but I don't believe this discussion belongs in a thread dedicated to good free software for Windows.

Like just having postgres on a linux server somewhere? I've done that too and it works well. You might as well just say what it is you are thinking of.

Yes but it doesn't have to be linux.

I recommend Secunia PSI 2.0 (Beta).

On page 1, people suggest Quicktime Alternative (or QT Lite). By now, these should be uninstalled. The project is dead; the latest available build is based on Quicktime 7.6.6 which has several known security vulnerabilities.

Is Quicktime even still needed? I can't remember the last time I had to view a QT video.

Many people won't need it. Imo, avoid Quicktime if you can. Unfortunately, I need it since a software I use (Native Instruments Traktor) can't play AACs without it.

Quicktime is needed if you have iTunes installed. Otherwise, no it's not needed for 99% of users. VLC will work for most videos.

Just installed this, and found it to be easy and high quality. I had some hassle fiddling around with upgrading PostgreSQL, but meh, that's pretty standard.

I use Returnil, it's like "deep freeze" but difference is it doesn't slow down your PC and it's free. Although it can just freeze drive C but still it's worth it than buying expensive alternatives

Is there a free (and open source, if possible) alternative to AnyDVD HD?

What I found so far is MakeMKV (free, closed source) which, ultimately, provides similar functionality as AnyDVD HD but isn't quite the same thing.

Maybe give squarespace a try? http://www.squarespace.com/tour/

Wordpress is always a good option too for basic stuff.

Squarespace does lots of advertising on pod casts so you should be able to get 10% off the life of the account pretty easy.
