I had this laptop for many years. About a few years ago, everytime I start up my laptop, i get message that says



Dwm.exe Aero glass for Win 8.1+ incompatibility issue

you should download appropiate symbol
ls package for your os from microsft and click retry


It has a red x on the top and bottom




But also few seconds after it, i get message of

it has the classic shell needs to configure itself for the new OS. So i always just close this message, then the aero glass thing everytime. When i do this with the classic shell close, it always shows uac and like a message but i close it.



Now for over 3+ years, I did nothing to this. What I did was after the 2nd message shows up, i close it and it gives you this message and then i close it. Then i close the Dwm.exe and then go and do my thing on my computer.



A few weeks ago, while im playing online poker, multiple times my poker programs crashed and my 2 monitors basically turn off for a short bit... before turning back on and i get that dwm.exe aero glass for win 8.1+ incompatible issue. I play on stars/party/888 and use hem2 and the 888caption etc for it.



I also have tons of speaker studdering as well. But not only that, my cpu usage is extremely high lately.



Now my question is... is the reason I didn't do anything with the Dwm.exe message the reason for all of this? Just googled dwm.exe and i read about is it uses a lot of cpu. The moment i open chrome... yes i have about 10 tabs plus at least saved and opened each time, cpu always spikes to 100% in the beginning. Is this normal?



Back then, my computer rarely if ever crashes or the sound studders. Now i did a few windows updates recently as those seem to be required. Anyone know how to fix these issues? I think the classic shell has to do with me downloading the classic shell years ago and when windows updates it, thats why im getting this message? My bigger issue now though is my cpu usage is very high and programs keep on crashing which rarely happen at all before.

I had lots of trouble on my old system with Chrome crashing with 16GB RAM.

Does it go back down in RAM and CPU usage? Does DWM as well?

Try changing your Windows dektop theme to a basic/default theme.

You will need Aero and Desktop Composition on for your trackers and HUD.

If you're seeing this issue in most cases its a graphics card issue

1 - Make sure windows is fully updated until 'No New Important Updates are Found' (this may require multiple restarts and multiple 'check for updates'), including Internet Explorer (even if you use a different web browser).

Okay so i asked this on another forum and the first thing they suggested was


1. Uninstall Classic Shell
2. Uninstall Aero


Someone said from looking at my issues, that would solve the issue because the dwm is related to the aero which makes sense since that is what the message says. I know a while back, i installed classic shell because i want it to look like windows 7... and aero because of the glasslike look? I remember when i didn't install aeros, moving the tables looks very weird... stars tables etc. So i can't uninstall aero because that is needed for hem2 hud? Its also needed for starscaption/888caption etc? I will ask in the thread about that.


The moment i open chrome, i always have saved pages though... it goes up to 100% almost everytime for a few seconds... then it goes down.


The DWM message, i only get when i turn on my computer after starting up. It was only recently where when i was playing poker where i had this issue where the program would crash and then i see that DWM message. I don't recall that happening ever but seem to happen few times now. This is when playing on stars/888 or party. Previously there was never an issue like this.


My graphics card... i dont think there is an issue. But we need to update it? I like to also add... on my computer, i do those windows updates only when they show it on bottom right that says windows need to update. Also... i never done a bios update ever on my laptop even once... i saw my bios is very old but i was told don't do it if you never do it since there is always a chance something can go wrong with bios update.


I did set my wallpaper to a more basic one though. But i think the one i used was also basic.

Okay someone said i could download the new aeros from www.glass8.eu. Has anyone done this? So would installing this for windows 10 1909 which is what i have solve this dmw error message? Because my aeros is not updated?


So no one here uses classic shell on their win10 computer then and just use it as is? I know a while back, i didn't like how the start menu looked etc which is why i installed classic shell a while back.

Classic shell hasn't been updated or in development for 3 years. Uninstall it. And why do you need aero? You can uninstall that one too.

Don't save tabs in Chrome, see if it resolves itself with a clean open.

Hey. Well i don't recall exactly when i kept getting that daily message of configure classic shell. It might been a few years ago but it might been when I updated to windows 1903 build?


So no one here prefers the old windows 7 start menu? That was why years ago I downloaded classic shell because that was how you can get the start menu to look like windows 7.


Well... isn't aeros where you can make the borders of the windows glasslike? I wanted it to look like windows 7 years ago and i downloaded aeros.

you need aero for HM2 and TN2.I don't know about 888caption.

Is aero and aeroglass the same thing or not? So if i remove aero glass 8.1 for win8+, can i still turn on aeros on my computer? Im confused here because i read windows 10 comes with aeros... but the aero glass is not the same thing?


I just remember when i got this computer years ago, i did not like how the borders looked as it was not transparent like with window7 computer so i downloaded aero glass.

Aero is already installed on my computer right by default? The holdem manager 2 subforum, i was told to make sure i have aeros turned on and desktop composition on... but i dont find those exact words when going to properties etc... the link that was posted was only to how to do that on a windows 7 machine. The links you posted.. those are windows 7 and 8... and i use windows 10.
