Controlling two computers with one mouse and keyboard

I want to use my labtop as if it were a second desktop, but really it will be running everything on its own. I want to move my mouse to the bottom of my desktop screen and have my mouse pointer scroll over to my labtop. But the labtop will be running its own programs. This is so I can have more table space for online poker and not tax the desktop too much. It would also be nice if they could share the same keyboard too (but preferably only the selected screen is the one with input). Is this possible?

KVM switch. Similar to what you want, but you can't just mouse over to other device.

Mouse without Borders, free software from Microsoft does exactly this, I'm using my work laptop keyboard and mouse to type and post this on my personal laptop.

Connect via RDP to your second computer.
You need to do some config to setup RDP in your computers, and get the IP address of your second machine so you can connect to it, but it's the easiest solution, and requires no extra installs from the internet.
Stay safe.
