Hi was hoping for help. When I first got my laptop, stars with pt4 running seemed fine. This was oct. now it’s all choppy with the animation etc. I don’t get this when I play some vid games (well one, called Cuphead). Browsing etc is fine.

I don’t know a whole lot about pcs, but my specs are

Dell Inspiron 17 7773
Chip is i7 8550, 8th Gen
16gb ram (have an addional slot for 16 more) ddr 2400
512gb SSD drive
NVIDIA GeForce MX150 With 2gb

Not sure why this is. I do notice an improvement when not using PT4. I have only used about 150gb of drive space. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried using Ethernet direct to see if it’d make a diff, no luck. Gonna try a reg external monitor just to see. The

Windows update has been installing crappy drivers with updates lately, try updating them. Specifically graphics - on-board (probably some variation of Intel HD graphics), nvidia (when using nvidia installer untick everything except the graphics driver) and USB (if you use a USB mouse). Intel have a driver updater utility you can run from their website for everything else, dell also have everything on their website if you're OK doing it manually.

You can bring up task manager (ctrl + shift + esc), sort by cpu and see if anything is spiking when it's laggy.

I had a similar issue with my graphics driver being replaced with a Windows one during an update. I had to roll it back and then disable its auto-updates.

Thanks- I did try the task manager thing and noticed cortana. Seems like I agreed to something with her lol when this slowdown happened. I manually did some registry edit I saw online to disable her. Animation became quick again.

So maybe that’s it. I’ll also do the nvidia update.
