Broken internal hard drive cable (advice?) Broken internal hard drive cable (advice?)

Hello,

Long story short I had to open my laptop Alienware 17 r4 (first time ever doing this, warranty expired, place I’m living has no computer repair etc) and I was not careful enough and damaged one of the cables, I was under impression it would pull out but as soon as wiring started to rip I stopped. Here is a picture...

...as you can see here I managed to damaged this cable ....

Still confused why this piece did not come out or what’s going on, is this a matter of buying a new cable or did I cause more damage? Should I consider one of those hard drive to usb Cables? In manual it says to disconnect to this piece but now when I turn computer on it doesn’t recognize hard drive. Thanks for any insight and I usually would never open a laptop and start messing around but had to given circumstances. Thanks so much to anyone that can help or advise here.

I’m afraid to remove the chord (despite thinking it should come out anyway) to avoid possible further damage.

I don't have much advice here other than to go see a local expert, pay him $30 or $60 or something, and have him fix it all for you.
