Boot Manager on different drive Boot Manager on different drive

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of giving my brother my old computer and to do to that I took out some RAM and a SSD.

In my computer I have a M.2 NVME SSD (My main one I'm keeping and which windows is installed on), However when I took out my other SSD that I'm giving away the computer wouldn't boot.

From what I gather the boot manager is on the SSD I'm giving away, I'm not sure exactly what boot manager does but obviously it's important.

Is there anyway I can get boot manager on my M.2 SSD without having to reinstall windows? I cannot be bothered to set it windows and download everything again.

This is what I'm seeing if it's any help

In your screenshot, it appears that Disk 1 is set to be the boot partition. You've gotta set your other disk/partition to be set as the boot partition.

Hey Josem,
That would be correct on a BIOS/MBR setup, in UEFI the bootloader and BCD store are stored in the small FAT32 UEFI partition, because UEFI firmware doesn't speak NTFS. The boot config can be set up to point to an OS install on another disk, or multiple boot options on multiple disks.

UnitedAS1, you need to clone all partitions on the boot drive to the new drive, shut down, remove the old drive, and reboot to migrate to an existing OS install to a new drive. Once you verify everything is working correctly, you can format the old drive and reuse it as a data drive or in a new system.
