I hear now isn't the best time to buy but I could really use an upgrade.

Budget is from 500-1500~
Not sure if I should get something cheap to get by until prices become more reasonable or to get something towards the upper end of my budget.

I want something mainly for poker(sims). I have a dual monitor setup. Not a videophile, so gpu doesn't have to be top notch just enough to watch movies/shows at 1080p I guess.
Ram 32gb with future proof

I am also curious how much more expensive it would be to get a modest gpu for gaming on medium setting for Diablo 2 Resurrected.

Any help is appreciated.

if you're not shopping for a mid range+ gpu, prices on rest of the components are quite tame, mby 5-10% inflated, not bad overall

tell me where you're from and I can help you
are you looking to diy?

actually, since we're pretty close to Black Friday, I'd suggest you wait a month and save some 200$

Yeah I was considering waiting til black friday.

I'm from the states and looking to diy.

I was reading the other thread you posted in about how to get win10. Since I already have win10 currently, is it true what I've read that I can xfer it to new pc?

you need a new license for each pc, can buy an OEM key for 15-20$, idk what they go for these days or just don't bother activating and you still get security updates and everything, they just show a watermark on bottom right corner, saying "Activate Windows". I don't have it activated on all pcs, no issues. if you want a free update to W11, the OEM key will do it, they say free update til mid 2022. Now it might not work, requirements atm are pretty tight, they might loosen it up later idk.

Some sites are saying black fridays deals will be starting earlier this year. Around when do you think I should start looking for parts?

Start looking now. Pick out roughly what you're looking for in components with a few different options for motherboard, SSD, power supply, cooler so you can strike when things go on sale.

I'll help him, you just lemme know when deals are on op, post links here
if it's super time sensitive and they just have 100 pcs in stock of x product that sells in 30 mins, then it is what it is
either way you need to move quick after I respond

ye 32 gigs is perfectly fine for postflop at a practical level
once you start piling in >3 sizes for flop/turn/river you quickly go up to needing 128 gigs or more
I don't personally think it's worth solving that way and if you do happen to want to check out super complex sims, there's a service called gtowizard that has em for 30 or 40$ a month, can book a month, do your diligence, compare to the sims you got or w/e you need to do, look at aggregated reports. you essentially want to see if there are any bet sizes commonly used in certain spots that you've missed due to only using 2-3 options.

nothing really worth getting right now from those newegg deals

ok thanks that's good to know, I have heard of them having free preflop solution but I haven't delved into it much.

I'll keep an eye out for actual black friday deals

only storage seems to be discounted for now

this is cheap
if you're itchy to make an early purchase

not too itchy so i'll sit on it for a bit. I recall in the other thread you mentioned not needing alot of ssd storage just mainly for windows

if you're just doing sims, those don't take up that much space
if you got a large library of files that don't depend on fast storage, like videos, music, etc, you might want to get a big hard drive just for file storage
if you're going to install a bunch of games, I'd step up to a 1 Tb nvme ssd, games nowadays are big and constantly get updates and increase in size even more
difference between a 250gb and 500gb is that the 500 gig one will end up being a bit faster and last you longer, because of the way they're constructed
so 500 gigs nvme is sweet spot in price/performance, but depending on your needs and how much you want to spend, you can go with a bigger nvme or smaller + hdd(s)

currently i just have a 1tb hdd and still have 770gb free space so i guess 500 ssd should be plenty and forego the hdd

alright one part down, ~6 to go for tower

i might get a new keyboard/mouse if theres good deals. currently have a zowie and love it idk if those go on sale

zowie doesn't like sales
they're overpriced but shapes are fantastic. good news is lately everyone's copying the best shapes and you got so many options. we'll see what's on offer.
keyboard wise you can check my mouse & keyboard thread for some more info
tl:dr if you want a mech with linear switches, get an optical, if you like some tactility, a hot swap board with your tactile switches of choice (not a lot of difference between them at the end of the day)

Buy this econobox "gaming desktop" from HP for $639 and sell the gtx 1660 super. You'd probably have to note in the listing that its LHR (low hash rate) for crypto miners though.

ugh 8 GB RAM and 256GB SSD is really a bit too low.

Also lol @ using a Ryzen APU in combination with a GTX 1660S.
These PCs are built so terribly.

I agree though that it is pretty cheap. That GTX1660S is heavily overpriced everywhere. I can buy a sh GTX 1080 for the same price as a sh GTX 1660S

I would buy the cheapest pos gpu I can get away with right now, just enough to power 2 displays
then sell at a small loss when prices finally go down and get a proper one (though it's looking like it's going to be a while, mby next summer)

I can't get over it that people sell this **** btw
It has been put together by a monkey grabbing random parts from the warehouse
Zero synergy between components

ye and proprietary mobo and psu that can't be used anywhere else, if one of these goes, you're paying up your nose for a replacement, if you can even find the part. idk if they carry parts for more than a couple of years. otherwise e-waste.
they slap on the cheapest pos cooler, so that needs to go (except they use a proprietary mount so gl adapting a different one to fit), almost always come with 1 stick of ram and you need a 2nd one for dual channel, esp for a G series Ryzen, closed off cases with no ventilation, bundled in with resource hogging crap like mcafee and w/e customer support **** app is on there, so the OS needs cleaning up as well, oh an their UEFIs are closed off to users and only support the most basic features.

I'm not denying that its cheaply made but OP's graphics card requirements could be satisfied by a mid-range card from 2012.

So pay $640 and sell the GPU for $400 to $450. Reinstall the OS, buy 32gb ram for $100.

OP seems to be on a budget from later posts and is looking at pre-built econoboxes, but if his budget goes up to $1500 I guess spend that.

I appreciate the input but never did I say I am looking at pre-built econoboxes. I am going to build my own. Also as I mentioned in op, my budget is anywhere from 500-1500 but given my needs I believe I can get much closer to bottom end than top end of the budget.

any gpu that can run d2r on even low settings I'd be ok with given the overpriced gpu market atm.
