3 monitor problem

Hi, I have Dell 30" its like 10 years old.
Dell 27" and a ****ty LG 17"

I got the 30 plugged in with a Dual DVI, 27 using display port and the LG with VGA.

The 27 works with on Max Res, same with the LG. But the 30 is stuck at 1280x800 res and If I increase it the screen goes all weird like staticy.

GFX card is Radeon R7 360, Any ideas how to fix this probleM?

Re: 3 monitor problem

I would try using display port on the 30'' and switch the 27 to DVI

if that doesnt work, check gpu drivers and cables, then individually test each monitor plugged in by itself

Re: 3 monitor problem

I can't use DP on the 30 as the 30 is like 10 years old and doesn't have the port.

If i just install a 2nd gfx card will this work? just put the 30 into the DVI of the 2nd card and have the 27 and 17 in the 1st gfx card?

Re: 3 monitor problem

Another video card should work, sounds like your current card can push that many pixels.

Re: 3 monitor problem

if you temporarily connect the 27" to the DVI (using the same DVI cable) are you able to get full resolution then?

it looks like your current graphics card should be able to drive up to 2560x1440 on DVI. (I didn't find that on AMD's spec page, but rather a page for an XFX brand card.)

i've never had much luck getting definitive info from manufacturers as to how many simultaneous displays at what resolutions are possible. on AMD's spec page, it indicates up to 6 simultaneous displays using DP MST hub. but it doesn't say at what resolution, so i guess we can't really conclude anything from that. in any case, i wouldn't necessarily give up on your current card yet.

Re: 3 monitor problem

Make sure your card supports Eyefinity (required for 3+ monitors @ max res afaik). If it doesn't, you're probably out of luck.

If it does, and since I couldn't find a 360 with native VGA, my best guess is you're using an Eyefinity incompatible VGA adapter, ie. a non-active one.

I never bothered to figure out what "active" means in this context - all I know is an active DP-DVI adapter (about 3x as expensive as a standard one) was required to enable triple monitor support with my HD7850. I might be wrong since this is VGA we're talking about, and your card is newer, so best take it as a clue for further research.
