256Go RAM PC for Piosolver : What should I get 256Go RAM PC for Piosolver : What should I get

Hello

I want to compute poker stuff with Piosolver, I'ld like to go for a 256Go RAM build because I'm curious about strange applied game theory stuff.
(I already have the license for Pio)

What do you all think, as a "budget" (1000-2000$) option for motherboard + CPU ?

I wanted to go for :
Motherboard : ASRock X299 Steel Legend
CPU : Intel Core i9-10920X (3.5 GHz / 4.6 GHz)

It seems like a "not very good for the price" CPU, but I had a hard time finding sockets available for 256Go (most setups being 128Go max), with not too expensive options for motherboard + CPU pack...

Do you think something else would be better ? Would there be an AMD option cheaper and better ?

I wanted to pay for a watercooling setup.
Any advices ? I have no idea there.
I just know that I want a good thing, with a lot of fan surface, for noise and temp efficiency, because the scripts could run for 1 month non-stop, 100% . That being said, is it a good idea to do some overclocking ? Or for a build that needs to be able to run 1 month non-stop, it's not a good idea even if watercooled (and I suppose there is a temp failsafe anyway?) ? Advices ?

For GPU (I'm also a gamer) I wanted to go with the Radeon RX 6950 XT.
Rumor seems to be it's the best graphic card for the bucks ?
And have it watercooled too.
Should I separate the 2 water circuits ?

Both Intel and AMD mainstream lines do not offer chipsets that allow 256 GB of memory. Maybe this will change this fall when they announce their new cpus.

Until then, you need to go with a HEDT chipset. However the Intel one is considered clearly inferior as it's lagging significantly behind AMD's Threadripper. For both the chip and the 256GB of memory, especially if it's DDR5, I would expect to reach the upper bound of the budget you have.

If you also want to get a 6950 XT, expect to pay another $1000-1500. But there are new high end GPUs coming from both AMD and NVIDIA in the fall. Just wait for the dust to settle by the holiday season and make your purchase then.

PS. after googling about it, those HEDT systems are more hard to find and more expensive than I thought. Either wait till the end of the fall or get an 12900 with 128GB.

if you must have 256 gigs, you need a Threadripper but not really going to happen <2k, the ram alone is 1k
OR
you get a refurb workstation with one or dual Xeon cpus on Amazon or a used one on Ebay

Are you trying to do preflop solves? 256GB RAM seems like severe overkill. I have issues with 32GB with my game tree being too big with stacks but I am doubling up to 64GB and should be good.

128GB should be plenty for complex postflop solves.

You are looking at $3k+ for the things you want.

You might consider renting a server with 256gb of RAM instead. They aren't cheap to rent but if you set up all the sims ahead of time you could minimize your expenses and I think come out way ahead compared to building it on your own.

I'm also looking to build a 256gb ram PC to solve exploitative stuff. Even if it's overkill you can solve mulitple smaller trees at once. I won't build it until next fall though but the best place to search for parts and to get everything compatible for a build is this site:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/

Start by choosing the 256 GB ram then it'll find other compatible parts.
