Why is an angle an angle? Why is an angle an angle?

Think I have seen that one before. Am I seeing double?

No angle.

The great ones are above angles, in any sport, game or endeavour. I think that's what Masque is saying.

Cool. I think whether or not you should feel that it's ethical to exploit those kinds of actions depends a lot on the norms of the game you're playing in. I've seen games where no one would consider it to be an egregious angle. In that case: go for it. I've seen other games where they won't invite you back. I think it fits within the framework I laid out. I don't think it's possible to say absolutely that a player's duty is to exploit the rules to full advantage without taking that kind of context about the unwritten norms into account, and that's pretty much what people refer to when they talk about angle shooting.

"That which is ethical gets you invited back"

Versus this:
"That which is ethical gets you laid".

There are no clear rules in getting laid; well apart from the one rule about consent....

Well named was being a bit hand-wavey with the when in Rome thing.

Obviously, the main difference between the two examples lie in height and not having an oddly-shaped head. Ugly short people are allowed to play poker.

I was under the impression that there'd be more math

Journalists, Politicians, and Lawyers take the top levels in the angle shooting business but not far behind and certainly within the top ten are SJWs, taxi drivers, truck drivers, and philosophers. And, as the song I posted above illustrates remarkably well, club owners are no slouches in the angle shooting business. Some of the above are good at math; some are not.

SJW’s even take a class in angle shooting and get certified I think, but I’ll let Well Named elaborate on that aspect.

All this reminds me of a great Beijing story. I visited a friend in Beijing years ago and our normal means of transport were taxis – little yellow cars that you flagged down everywhere once they emerged from the dense, hazy pollution that enshrouds Beijing. On a singular day, we flagged down one to get to a huge clothing market. As my friend (who knew Chinese) learned you make the taxi driver repeat where you told them to go as a precaution. Anyway, after a bit we both looked at each other and remarked that we appeared to be going in the wrong direction to the named market – we had been there numerous times before.

So my friend yapped at the midget behind the wheel and we learned he was pulling an angle shoot out of his ass because to him we were obviously dumb, rich white tourists that deserved to be abused by the locals. This sleazy little dude yaps that he thought we wanted to go to the Silk Market (a very famous market in Beijing) and he will take us to the original named market, which would be so much extra on the meter etc. and etc. as we were now extra miles in the wrong direction. Oh no we exclaim. At the next stop in the traffic, which is about every half block in Beijing, we leaped from the taxi and slammed the doors on this little rat ****er. I have no qualms about the guy trying to angle shoot us and squeeze extra Yuan from rich, pasty-faced European Capitalist Scum; just as I have no qualms about exiting his junky yellow metal cab without paying anything to this angle shooting taxi driver.

We repeat the same procedure with another taxi and make it to the clothing market so I can order a hand-made snappy suit and accompanying shirts at ridiculous low prices – produced by slave labor run by the local cabal of Han Chinese clothing warlords. I still have this suit (the clothing material however was produce in Italy) which hangs in my closet, mostly unused.

Jab that in your eyeball you angle shooters. Deceive the deceivers, etc., into infinity. The whole world is an angle shoot. That is what makes it so much fun.

BTM knows this story is true to the finest detail. As for the rest of you………………….Well, I only hope you enjoyed reading this story as much as I enjoyed relating it. It is good writing practice for me for my upcoming autobiography.
