Venus brighter now that it will be all year

Are you early risers going out and admiring it in the eastern sky?

February 16th (evening) and April 30th (morning) were its brightest appearances for another year and a half. It'll get steadily dimmer the rest of the year.

If you are intrigued, like I was, by the odd way that Venus becomes bright extremely fast after it passes between us and the sun, then very slowly becomes dimmer, feel free to read a short item I wrote up about it: When is Venus brightest?. See, you really DO use calculus after you get out of school sometimes... and not just to try to find optimal bluffing frequencies in poker.
