Australopithecus genus evolved in eastern Africa around 4 million years ago before spreading throughout the continent and eventually becoming extinct 2 million years ago

2 million years ago: Widespread use of stone tools

1 million years ago: h omoerectus tames fire

the guy in your video says he is rethinking the "out of africa" theory and how we left africa 65,000 years ago. we left Africa about half a million years ago.

thats why i said [ ] SMP

New evidence comes around from time to time. He was discussing new evidence about the various waves of hominids (hominid != h. sapiens) leaving Africa and such. The lecture was pretty balanced, thoughtful and a decent look at the currently available evidence. Therefore, [x] SMP.

Cool talk about the higgs field and string theory.

2012 Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qlLW60wOjo

On Tuesday, March 20, 2012, over 5,000 people tuned in to the live stream of the 2012 Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate from the LeFrak Theater at the American Museum of Natural History.

Hosted by Hayden Planetarium Director Neil deGrasse Tyson, this year's debate pitted some of the experimentalists who claimed to have discovered faster-than-light neutrinos against their strongest critics, as well as other teams who are racing to test Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity with unprecedented precision.

So Moonwalking with Einstein and his talk page (wiki) have me believe. Before becoming famous, he competed in the World Memory Championships under a different name and apparently used mnemonic techniques which he discusses on his website in 2001 (see cached version of that page here). Just FYI for anyone who watched this video, and I'm also interested if/why anyone disputes the claim that he is (at least partially) deceiving his audience.
