The play Hamlet was written ~1600. The first firearms in Europe were developed in later 1400- to 1500's starting with the matchlock.

The Germans were making excellent and reliable wheel-lock pistols in 1580. Very elegant hand guns and remarkably useful for killing people. Which is why I love guns. Killing people is useful and good and wise and should be done more often than currently employed.
