the Glenmorangie remains full which is a sign of wisdom. The Disaronno suggests a niece* although that's also full so it might be a present.

*Mine made me drink Disaronno, vodka and diet coke which was a surprisingly ok way to get very very drunk

Okay but another thing to keep in mind is that at the start of the pandemic (now), we are able to take measures which we will not be able to take in the middle of the pandemic (2-4 months from now). In four months, we will not have the luxury of being able to stay at home to keep the virus from spreading. People need to heat their homes, feed their families, and pay their rent. No one is going to fix broken gas lines for free, or bring crops to market for nothing in return, or build a house for a person who cannot give them something of greater value in return for it than the expense that went into building it. This means that if people want heat, food, and shelter, they need to go out and make money to exchange for those things. The government cant provide it very long without the collapse of currency and subsequently the economy.

Right now we we are playing a card on which is written "once-per-pandemic use", equivalent to a nuclear bomb in war which had a price tag of trillions of dollars to produce. To think that the current state of affairs will continue after our trump card has been played is, to me, overly-optimistic.

edit: I recently read that 3M plans to ramp up production of N95 masks such that, in 12 months time, it will be able to provide the equivalent of 6 masks per year to each American. Of course the headline was that in 12 months time its production will be ramped up to 2 billions masks per year, and was touted as good news. To me, this is the worst news I have heard since the outbreak of coronavirus.

So I had to do some shopping for my sister yesterday and one item on her list was – wait for it ----Toilet Paper. The local grocery store is out for reasons that are difficult for my simple mind to fathom but there it is. Anyway, up the cost I went and among all the other needed stuff, I was able to purchase ONE (there is a strict limit) package of toilet paper from a set aside stack, in a protected area surrounded by armed guards - The usual shelves being devoid of this paper product. So embarrassed to the hilt, I had to stand in line (six feet apart sir!) with the plebeian herd with my single package of toilet paper (almost everyone else had one too) and sundry other items. What a fool I felt. But one is obliged to help family. A semblance of social structure and obligation should be maintained to remain civil. This is very annoying. Hence my need for additional whiskey and the question I posed yesterday. In case you need to know; which of course you don’t.

I delivered the groceries to my sister and tried to talk and explain a few simple things about how safe she actually is and to get her to calm down a bit. It was basically useless. She is glued to the news and is ramped up to a frenzied state. And so it goes on…………… The Madness of Crowds. And the difference between thinking fast and slow (a reference to a very good book).

The wise ones are calm.

So try and join the wise ones.

If you insist on being frantic and silly and in a continual frenzy state, then it would behoove you to be more circumspect with your limited time left on the planet. I suggest you race down to the store and stock up on Toilet Paper. Just to be safe!! While there buy me some wine and beer* and have it shipped to my home. Thank You.

*I'll take care of procuring my own hard liquor.

A lot more supplies in the stores here than there were a couple of weeks ago, and less panic buying, it seems. Is America behind us on the trajectory?

Panic buying cant go on forever as a household can only store so much.

Chris Hayes had a story tonight saying the panic buying ended a while ago. What's happening now is people are using more at home TP and less at work TP. The at work TP is low grade stuff which is now piling up in warehouses. The at home TP is made by different manufactures who can't meet the additional demand. They don't want to gear up to make more and have the extra capacity become worthless when things get back to normal.

We have an amazingly advanced supermarket system but we're also reaping the very unexpected brexit bonus of overstocked warehousing setup as part of the no deal or cliff edge thingy.

The thing is that the lesson from the madness of crowds is that we should stock up with toilet paper etc

There's an analogy with the stock market where at times it's nothing to do with the fundamentals. Toilet paper is always a good horse to back in this beauty contest. Particularly as it's a no lose gamble

Best not to be caught with your pants down counting the few sheets you have left.

Heaven is the fact you can win long after you can experience it because of all that which happened before. Yes you can.

"And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.”

It aint happening. No it wont. Still have 3/4 of kitchen paper, 2/3 of car's reserve big cylinder kitchen paper (car that is no longer contributing to expenses but keeps giving forgotten blessings anyway until its back to the road again lol), 3/4 of roll of final good tp, 2/3 or roll of car old reserve tp and of course the bag with all discarded kitchen paper used to wipe oils and sauces while eating and clean up kitchen messes (from the time before the event horizon became a possibility making trivial such concerns).

No hell no it aint happening. I will print and chemically process my own f*cking design paper before it does...Damn right.

Following the logic of my last post, there should be kegs of beer piling up in warehouses because of the Taverns being closed that sold beer on tap. So if you're finding bottled beer shortages because people at home have nothing to do but drink you might look into buying your beer by the keg.

This is what I thought when I heard people were buying bottled water and toilet paper -- doesn't a working shower fill the needs of both of those items?

Sure you can shower once a day even now that i am not going out i do every 2-3 days but that doesnt change the fact that the first few ones 50% of the time are disgusting since you want to make it a clinical discussion now lol. Plus how many times you plan to shower per day now 2-3, are you gonna time it? Yes i can shower and clean but i dont like to mess my hands and then clean them every single random time i dont have 10 min to do all this sequence. I still work from home even more than before actually.

And seriously to anyone even daring to talk about showering to avoid tp you want to make your hands full of 2#$#% and then clean them? Well then go for it use your hands to all kinds of disgusting things and be ok with it because you will wash later. No. I do recognize the end result is what matters at a serious level but also the way you get there makes you either pissed off at life or not at a superficial but necessary to affect mood level. All people with babies that had to clean them for years are heroes by the way. Still just because you do what you have to sometimes doesnt make it pleasant and trivial.

Sure if it goes to that i can do it but still its f#cking disgusting to imagine the process so a big mf you to all idiots that cant just buy 1-2 packets and need 10 of them making it so hard for the reasonable people that dont hoard it.

If your bathroom has bidet or portable shower tool it helps waste less paper and keep cleaner between showers too (although enough paper keeps you clean anyway and the underwear proves it) but not all bathrooms are advanced as the ones i have back at home and not the current warzone here lol.

Anyway depending on the situation you need to have tp even if you shower afterwards. I am only talking about this garbage topic because there is no taboo for serious people and the fact we are talking about it is a systemic failure of this society. Yes of course we have leaves and old newspapers etc but really what back to wartime stories now?

The fact morons everywhere made it so difficult for all including the mfers at supermarkets that decide how much to order and maintain the crisis making the expansion of the virus faster 1 month later is infuriating.

Sometimes US proves a mega banana republic that pisses me off actually. I still embrace its potential on this world but its f%$cked up big time in countless ways too. Look at this moron for president managing a crisis for example. Unable to accept any wrongdoing and behaving like a child immersed in endless excuses and lies unable to understand even simple % ratios and proportional to problems behavior or that actually closing the flights by 50% weeks after it is too late already means nothing. Only a total insecure loser is so defensive about stupid things like even speculative drugs or how many tests have been done or that its the responsibility of a stupid pathetic abusive system like Chinese government to educate the free US early when all the experts were talking about it on January and February. What the fack is wrong with the superpower being so weak in all this unable to declare complete lockdown right away in all states and rally to produce tests and ventilators in record time.

I can get tp just fine if i go in line is some stupid supermarket sequence of 20-30 people early enough in the day. But that bs defeats the purpose of social distancing. Nothing works. No online groceries from safeway or any other big name. Amazon fresh dead. Amazon tp dead. Ordering from China now lol finding out weeks later its lost or not coming. WTF is this?

When is say i will facking design and chemically process my own paper i may just become serious enough about it because i have had it with this bs society.

So my only way out of it is to pay someone to do the groceries for me or go there with homemade dust allergy masks and kitchen gloves and take chances on a super bs virus that is airborne and persists even perpetuated by symptom free people when they talk or exhale. I am not gonna pay someone to take risks for me unless i know its ok for them to do so. After the curve has turned. And until then yes 1/3+1/4+2/3+5/6+1/7 it is. I will facking turn it into harmonic series that diverges. When it will come down to shower it will still be processed paper first and then shower. You can choose to have less disgusting events in your life. Of course only the profound insulting ones like the fact 800 mil people are not eating enough daily or over 1 bil has no access or easy access to clean water truly matter and are dwarfing any other unpleasant images. But you can all use a little less ugliness each moment. Sorry if describing the truth added to it.

First of all there is real suffering on this world and this is nowhere near that for me yet. I mean lets be real for how some people have lost so much in this including also financial security and for the fact as i posted before that over 1 bil people do not eat enough daily or have clean water to begin with for whom the virus is a joke in comparison.

But in reality assuming i didnt have it yet as previously speculated this virus must be taken seriously. It can kill people that have strong immune systems too because they overreact to it. You dont spend 28 days away and then recklessly walk around crowds for stupid TP and unavoidably also while there another 50 things needed to not have to go there for 2-3 more months. Any supermarket visit will be a real risk currently because i am in a heavy activity location. How risky? 1%-10%? Am i going to fear that? What is the risk of ruin EV lol? You tell me. Am i losing any sleep for it. No.

There arent many things that if i am not even slightly careful have 0.1-1% chance to kill me in less than 14 days. If that were true then i would have life expectancy less than 20 years going forward.

Lets just say that it is patently mfing ridiculous that in a superpower no Amazon, no Costco, no Target, no Walmart etc can actually deliver right now TP online. WTF really? Why are they all buying so much and cannot replenish their channels and restrict the idiots that buy tons of it? If you get even 20 rolls with proper planning you can last 1 year. We live in a world of selfish aholes everywhere.

Right now the only way to get something delivered to you is to go to one of those food/grocery delivery services where people risk exposure to get you groceries. I will wait for the curve to drop before i have someone risk for me and tip heavily if i chose to do that and not go myself as i should instead. I want to see however how bs ridiculous this will get. Keep in mind though that if things turn for the worse for any reason we never saw coming real food shortages will emerge. Poor design all over the world for such things becomes obvious now. Next time you get the chance design very carefully what you need to have at home to be able to survive easily for 6 months without getting out at all. It is a proper hedge strategy that all must have. Some combination of items that make substantial storage of gains give you extensive horizon away from markets.
