People are upset because maybe they can't have servants on minimum wage or less ferrying them about London for Uber anymore.

The pyramid looks more silly than spooky.

SMP should have an architecture/engineer thread. Brunelleschi would top the list for the Dome on Santa Maria del Fiore, in Florence.

It look's like some sort of spacecraft to me.

Maybe it's what Jacob Rees Mogg arrived in.

Clearly, you all must seize the means of cheap cooperative transportation for the people while we happily stand at attention on command across the pond, or else because free markets and patriotasticexbeeallahdpciius.

Good to see ya.

I'll stick this here: Got a call from one of my CC companies. Someone got hold of my info and tried to buy something through CCbill which, rumor has it, is a payment processor for porn sites. The charge of ~$35 was declined and now I'm getting a new CC. Question: what kind of idiot gets hold of someone else's CC info and tries to buy porn instead of a big screen TV or something similar?

It may be a method to steal cash with minimal work. It could even be automated

(Maths paradox question from an idiot-)

A circle resting on a flat plane could be thought of as a tangent line. Either way, the length of contact seems like it could equal zero. But they are obviously touching, so how can this be?

What does the intersection look like when zoomed in closely?

Thanks.

Edit: I may have sort of solved this. The length of contact would be equal to the width of of a ring; zero or empty set or something. I still don't understand though.

If the intersection is the empty set, then the circle and line/plane aren't touching.

The intersection is a single point. When zoomed in, it's still a single point. A single point has measure zero, so the length is zero.

I knew that from 9th grade geometry. Though for some reason your response prompted me to envision a circle on top of an isosceles triangle, and now it makes sense. Thank you.

Yeah, the concept of a point with zero size is trivial.

A circle resting on a plane is only resting with all its circumference if you have gravity in the game (plane parallel to circle's plane) . So the length is the circumference. If you imagine a circle upside (plane of circle vertical to the other plane ) rolling in the plane (because static stability without rolling is impossible and measure zero chance with gravity) then yes its only a point of contact.

But all this is bs because there is no such thing as this described in the real world so dont go about adding gravity to it and ignoring the rest. In the real world there is no touching at all anyway only electromagnetic interactions at definitely nothing like a perfect circle's circumference but close to it in general if you define what touching is in other terms of stability.

Drunk thread is informal, I suppose.

Informally "circumference" may also refer to the edge itself rather than to the length of the edge.

A total stranger contacted me today on ResearchGate regarding a paper I wrote 15 years ago that was never even published. The result I proved in it is exactly what they need. I don't even know how I got be a member of ResearchGate.

I don't know how ResearchGate got my info either. Or how any of it is legal.

I get email updates on who accessed my papers. How? Why? What?
