The Japanese are taking over downtown Vegas. And there is nothing that can be done about it.

Dix dollar bill into the slots, never been back.

So how many did you buy?
That is called the "anchoring effect." Sales and marketing people have been doing it for years.

They should put up a sign that says "limit 10 per customer."

Interesting.

$6.95 and $3.99 are both examples of anchoring, of course.

To Win Premier League (as of 10/28)

Arsenal 2/1
Manchester City 5/9
Manchester United 8/1
Chelsea 15/1
Liverpool 30/1
Tottenham 100/1
Evertan 300/1
All others 500/1

Should I put a tenner on Tottenham? Anybody else want in on this?

Spurs were 500-1 a few weeks ago, just before we slaughtered Man City.

On a roll after the Royals win, huh?

At 100/1 it seems difficult to quantify.

Man Utd at 8/1 doesn't look like the worst bet in the world.

My thoughts exactly. Do you want me to put 100 quid on that for you?

Actually Tottenham and United are great bets.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/premier-league/table

Sell the leader and buy the 2 others lol.

Its still so early that its ridiculous.

Of course to be fair we need to simulate it using current results so far and be more objective.

We also need to know who has played who so far etc. Maybe someone has better program ahead etc. (then injuries, overall team depth in case of problems, European championships commitments, games to play in the British cup etc all add up to testing a teams endurance over the year and may play a role).

Notice however that Zeno's numbers are 1 week ago missing most recent games.

I had a bad run of luck at poker in 2012 and now I'm disillusioned with gambling.

Wouldn't that United have great support all over the world skew the odds unfavourably?

I dont know the exact numbers because i need to calculate them so it only feels that way.

In reality probably United is overpriced and so is Tottenham making all bets very bad (not just bad) to be honest lol. A quick back of envelop calculation i did gave based on current results only 6% chance for M.United to finish ahead of Arsenal. And of course that is not the only obstacle. M.City also looks more likely to be ahead of Arsenal by a small bit over 50%. But i need to know who has played whom so far etc.

Treat them all as random walks with different winrates (say the current established ones) (eg leader is 25/11=2.27 points per match) and rough sd is about 1.2/match with 27 matches left. Then see what is the chance each has to be ahead of all others. Its easy to simulate but its only a crude first result without proper research yet. (i would tend to trust it if all top 5-6 had played more or less similar strength opponents so far)

Endless variations.

I've seen EPL tables over the years a few times. Carry a liquid mean for PPM over 3, 5, 7 seasons, factor in team philosophies and board intents.

Otherwise you're just another sunk Pompey.

(You know the top 4 will gain x games, you have slightly less than a 4/7 chance most years of knowing at least 3 of the 4 as locks, the drama of the last few weeks mean you leave the punting well alone on a positive finish. Whether week 32, 33 or 34.)

Squad depth matters a great deal, it's a long tough injury rich season ahead. Man City and Chelsea in particular are miles ahead on that.

More reasons to have a drink ;

(die hard, heart of the champion etc)

and naturally the only threat left, good to see them in trouble, needing now multiple results and definitely a win by 2 goals in the final match in Greece, so i dare say them bring it..., it will be our duty to still win it, because after all... heart of the champion! They will need a bigger heart than our own, unless we prove heroes with Bayern in Germany and make last match irrelevant, which is in fact what i demand to happen!
