Well i obviously dont agree with general blanket statements too but there is some core logic in the literature quote. It seems happiness is basically some core things going on well that are probably common to all humans (i mean if you have food, love, a home, reasonably good health, some job and some other personal things you are generally happy). The unhappiness however can take many paths that are very intricate and special to each person's/family's trajectory. I do agree however that many of these stories of unhappiness and pathology stem ultimately from some universal kinds of failures.

Me too even if its another Lucy probably, its the same love.

and no its not these 3 "Lucy"s;

Just about the only way FoldnDark can dig his way out of the hole respectably is by creating some continued generalized simple fraction storyline

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continued_fraction

where the terms are as in ;

3447= (3+a/(4+a/(4+a/7)))

and 3440= (3+a/(4+a/(4+a/0)))

with division by 0 implying sign(a) infinity lol.

and we are looking for what "a" we have that 3447+1=3440

and the answer is only possible to make sense if a is one of the 2 choices;

a= 2/7 *(11 +- Sqrt[905])

As his lawyer i call this the generalized simple continued fraction defense in base a! He of course went this way due to the Ramanujan discussion.

How should I know? I suck at math. That's why I asked these guys, DUCY?

Thanks, Masque!

Didn't look like a question at first...more like a claim. Think that was an act of trolling, derailing our brain powers.

Bah, DS does it all the time. You make a statement and politely ask, DUCY? Then people figure it out for you. Seems reasonable to me

He's generally got an idea he believes in though. You didn't believe in your statement even yourself. Thats a crucial difference.

You forgot to say, DUCY?

This kind of reminds me of a drunken conversation I had decades ago. It goes like this. After the Soviets discovered and developed some new technology, or the US, once the other side learned about it, they were able to fairly quickly develop it themselves without having access to the specs or a stolen item to reverse engineer. Why? The theory is that once the scientists knew the technology, physics and math were possible, it made it easier for them to work on it knowing they weren't just wasting their time on something frivolous. I don't know if any of that is true, but it might sound good with a nice bottle of Lagavulin 16. Mmm, sobriety is killing me.

Innovation from existing concepts is easier than invention of a new or mostly new concept?

My brain says there is existing specialized language to describe this, but like hell is it telling me what that exactly is right now. Maybe I'll sleep on it and remember it in a dream?

Here is a better copy (includes more material like the foreword by Snow) Of Hardy's book

Note the stain on the introduction. Tears?

Yeah the better copy part was about the lack of the foreword i think on the original link (i am not sure what is going on actually but it appears the second copy is more substantial). That stain is very likely oil or water with some oil that has over the weeks/months/decades of original event(yes it is a slow diffusion) expanded. It sucks lol. You can count it has DNA evidence in it in any case, corrupted or not proper for future archaeologists that may be able to even tell from the scans eventually (imagine that!).

Here is a modern response to it;

http://oldweb.cecm.sfu.ca/personal/j...aesthetics.pdf

Here is the original ebooks gate that has other books too

https://archive.org/details/AMathematiciansApology

And here is a massive collection of just about anything book/articles/documents related;

https://archive.org/details/additional_collections

Sometimes you hit some big databases by accident lol. Its best to download what is interesting just in case it goes away later. I am not sure if those are books that are ok to be available free or not. Some clearly state they are ok. But i am not complaining when it comes to education in any case and i am not asking questions either lol.

Give a laptop with solar charging and some internet connection to the poor of the world and watch everything change and become scientific society eventually.

Do not underestimate that link . Even that collection of american mathematical monthly articles branch of it alone is worth it;

https://archive.org/details/jstor_am...wnloads&page=5

here is a sample on the history of the exponential and logarithmic functions;

https://ia601604.us.archive.org/19/i...78/2974078.pdf

Happy searching/hunting of whatever interests you! Some of these typically are available only from inside libraries or universities but occasionally some are made free. Some are also very rare old articles or books (eg very old scientific american magazines.)

Look at this collection of physics books. Some are very classic must have ones;

(just wow actually at how big and significant in content this collection is. I had bought many of these over the years and some were only available in libraries)

"https://archive.org/details/additional_collections?and[]=mediatype%3A%22texts%22&sort=-downloads&and[]=physics"

See what it has on Hardy alone;

"https://archive.org/details/additional_collections?sort=-downloads&and[]=mediatype%3A%22texts%22&and[]=mathematics%20hardy"

PS: See how the "stain" lead to the discovery of the entire database. Chaos theory in action. Probably all started by the Taxicab number and the London Zeno story lol. Which were started by ...you name it...

Strictly chance based morality games are weird indeed. Roleplaying games are the modern update to chutes and ladders: the morality game.

The same people who badger others to play them are the ones who consistently become upset.

I was thinking more along the lines of games as educational tools than popular culture. But enough about my life sober in the life is being drunk thread.

Harvested my first onion from the garden. A Walla-Walla sweet. Been harvesting a lot of beets also. The greens are delicious. They are probably also good for you but that doesn't bother me. Green beans are almost done but will get a few more bunches. The Shisheto* peppers are really producing nicely. Getting about a pound per 4-5 days (I have ten plants). They are worth about $5-8 a lb depending. In the big city, I think you can get $8-10 lb for organic. Out here in Redneckville no one has even heard of them. Just like the place Chezlaw lives in.

Herbs did well especially the dill, basil, and rosemary. Will soon have loads of cherry tomatoes. I'm calling an 18-wheeler in to haul away all the squash and zucchini.

Exactly and that basic is not a moral mistake of itself. I'm skeptical of arbitrary morality divides dictated from religious hubris. Vices & Virtues sounds like the church lady's favorite RPG.

I have grown the Dorset Naga. That's a proper English pepper.

Highly recommended for food, party games and crowd control.
