Those who know, do not say. Those who say, do not know. Hence, smp has quitened down as Nirvana was being reached. Yet, I say this.

Thanks. We had some drinks afterwards in the pub across the road. They knew Sean in there (unsurprisingly), and could not have been nicer or more accommodating to us. I spent about three days making sandwiches. It was a good funeral.

In the end, it's pretty stark and simple. What an alcoholic wants, more than anything else, is another drink. The only choice someone close to them has is whether to tolerate and support that, or to see them begging for pennies on the street.

It is Tuesday. Is there a worse day in the week?

Every day is the same to me. The only reason that I know when it's Sunday, for example, is because we get the big newspaper.

My cat is happier than you, Howard. And she can’t even read a newspaper.

It is not that simple in my eyes. I can understand a heroin addict begging but i cannot understand an alcoholic begging for change. As such. Was it cirrhosis or liver cancer/failure

However, I would like to ask the math guys about relative risk reduction vs absolute risk reduction within the EUA of the vaccines. Though, although you get numbers, it becomes philosophical in how to interpret them. Especially when you question how they determined covid 19 in both the control and placebo groups. It is threadworthy but i am too lazy, or it is yoo much effort to do from a phone.

The trickiness happens when the risk is small to begin with. You can cut the small risk by 90% but you've only eliminated a small amount of risk because the risk was small to begin with. For example, cut 0.0001 to 0.00001. That's a 90% cut but you've only reduced your risk by 0.00009. Maybe not worth it. The risk from Covid is evidently large enough to motivate a lot of people to try to cut it with a vaccination.

They had to do a post-mortem, because he died within a certain number of days of having had an operation, in which case they have to determine whether the operation contributed to the death. Eventually, there were about five causes listed on the death certificate, and I think cirrhosis was one of them.

I don't find your question insensitive. In fact, I'm more concerned with whether "autopsy" is a horrible, American vulgarization of "post-mortem".

I'm glad to read that you have managed to keep a pet alive. I'll admit it: I'd had my doubts.

We Americans are a vulgar people, Charlie. But I think you already knew that.

No, I didn't know that.

And I expected autopsy to turn out, etymologically, to be the only reasonable choice.

It does not. There is no interpretation necessary (the math is just math) and it is certainly no more of a philosophical pursuit than choosing which restaurant to eat lunch at.

Best lunch in the East End? Got to be more than just a few. Lastcard needs to explore and give us the lowdown.

Don't be so anal.

It's the talk of the town. But the thread might be too controversial and get locked down.

Probably not worth it versus amazingly efficacious.
For Pfizer, it was a 0.74% risk in the placebo, or thereabouts, slashed by 95%. How did they determine covid19. A positive pcr test plus a symptom. That is not covid 19.

This is the EUA doc of the J&J reviewed. You could download the docs yourself and read them. It's no less dodgy for pfizer and moderna.

What about whether to have Pepsi or Coke? Is that philosophical?
