So why hasn't the word urbia been invented?
If it exists because it was invented in 1876, then I can assure you that the other word was invented (probably not for the first time) in 2019.

Do you walk all the way to the moon in your lifetime? They say 50% of it only. 175k km

No. I tend to walk horizontally. Also, I like to breathe air.

It is 1:15 pm my time. I'm drinking but very sober, still. And I'm vertical. Horizontal is for later.

Well, well, well - those Damn Jews are at it again. America needs to do something about all this freedom of expression and free speech shenanigans that allowing fast-talking Jews a space in the media sphere - next thing you know; the Jews will own all the banks and newspapers and bamboozle people with arcane religious texts! This has to stop. I believe the Brits are on to this caper big time. They like to lead the way.

If you shoot for the stars you might end up killing one of your neighbors on accident

I would never kill a neighbor by accident; it would be deliberate. It's a small world.

Did this for fun. Calculated with proper differential equations and bullet data found online an estimate for a 25 grams bullet with 1cm diameter leaving at near 500m/sec to the sky and found out it takes about 16 sec to reach top height 2 km with air resistance accounted for and it comes back down with around 115m/sec in something like 25 sec for a total of ~40 seconds travel.

So only idiots shoot up in the sky and put others at risk because 115m/sec is still enough for some injury or even death if it hits the wrong place. Of course it still proves about 1/100000 chance to hit anyone unless its over a big crowd.

Too bad your (presumably) vertical trajectory is irrelevant.

Quote:
...while bullets traveling on a perfectly vertical trajectory tumble on the way down, creating turbulence that reduces terminal velocity below that which would kill, it was very difficult to fire a bullet in a near-ideal vertical trajectory. In practice, bullets were likely to remain spin-stabilized on a ballistic trajectory and fall at a potentially lethal terminal velocity.

Are you making the claim that there are non-idiots? This is certainly untrue.

There might be people whose behavior you largely approve of, but that is entirely different.

Also, the 1/whatever odds of hitting someone are not proved by the calculation. That would require a density calculation.

I call bs on their claim the speed falling is any significant level above terminal. Exactly what motion is that that is above terminal? What happens to accelerate it to such levels from lower levels? Where is the math to any of this? Even if one were to send it up to 85 deg it would lose a lot of energy to air resistance quickly and start moving at terminal velocity on the way down because up there in the top of trajectory the horizontal component after over 12-13 seconds of flight has been reduced a lot and the fall from up there will definitely happen with kinetic energy that is far less than initial. So how does it get to speed bigger than terminal if it starts from below terminal at the top? The best it can do is fall with the proper orientation to minimize air resistance, enhancing terminal which is precisely how i assumed it falls as a best case scenario.

Even 115m/sec is big speed of course but ~19 times less energetic than some 500 m/sec

If one were to aim low of course its another story as the trajectory lasts less time and can can strike without having yet reached terminal velocity from above levels (like 500 coming down not yet to 115) .

Yes i used 100 people per km^2 that is reasonable for many places and personal space per human of order less than 0.1m^2. Its ok even at 200-300 per km^2 ie suburban areas because many would be in cars or inside buildings at the time. But i assumed open spaces with random people nearby like having fun outside, walking, sports, parties etc.

People that do not care for the safety of others are idiots.

Solving the differential equations when not vertical is very tough to do and possibly impossible in closed form for kv^2 forces. You get 3 coupled nonlinear differential equations.

But to see how this non science backed wikipedia entry is bs ask yourself what is the horizontal speed of a 500m/sec launched at 85 deg?

Cos 85 times 500 is 44. At the top all it has is a fraction of 44 and 0 vertical. Like maybe 20 or less. Then it comes down at practically the speed it would have if one launched it by hand. So it will be essentially starting from near nothing and that is why eventually behaves like a falling object that has long forgotten where it was launched from. The best it can do is fall with the tip down reducing air resistance and this leads to about 115m/sec.

Now pending on details of exact shape coefficient and mass it can be a bit more than that but it is still what you would call terminal velocity.

Get letter from IRS saying you owe $$$$$$$$$$$ which should not be the case.
Call IRS and be told wait time is up to one hour.
Try IRS.gov site as recommended.
Creating an account is a PITA but not that bad.
Click 'view balance.'

Think 'wtf? but I'll take it.'

At my age letters like this one could kill me, you'd think the government would know that.

Rum and coke is a top ten cocktail for sure. Statistically, there can be no argument about it. Cockspur rum is okay. It's cheapo, has a vanilla sweetness, and appears to have slipped under the yuppie/hipster radar.

One quart rum to three parts water. Keep the limeys hydrated and drunk before the scurvy sets in due to the lack of vit c. Slice of lime. Bingo. Problem solved. The birth of the cocktail. Captain Morgan can bounce with that spiced nastiness. Yuck

I was in the south of Spain drinking with my brother and his girlfriend at the time. I busted his balls. I convinced him that Bacardi and coke was a woman's drink. I'll never forget his reaction. He said, what do you mean that's it's woman's drink, it's rum! and posed a gesture with his bicep pumped while saying so.

Well I heard cocktails were going cheap so after all that, I arrived at the table with the most feminine looking glass possible with a bunch of umbrellas and glittered straws sticking out of it..... Yeah, you had to be there to see the laugh that ensued
