I don't say that, of course.

Is it me?
Was the person any guardian of the children or a random stranger to them like you? What happened next? What were the kids doing (how old) that might be bothersome?

I would look at the guy, smile, seemingly agreeing and then ask him what he would give to be able to go back for one day to their age and play like that, making noise without a single care in the world, right there at the horizon of their (and his) soul?

The game is to make all happy somehow...and wiser.

Maybe he was Santa Claus.

None of it was as bothersome as Last Christmas.

Just because something has been abused by its usage in endless stupid places it doesnt mean its a bad song. I linked significant worldwide hits earlier.

1
"The song reached number one in Slovenia and Sweden and number two in seven countries; Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway and United Kingdom. Wham! donated all of their royalties to the Ethiopian famine."

2
"The song features a prominent saxophone riff, and has been covered by a number of artists since its first release. It was released as a single and became a huge commercial success on both sides of the Atlantic and on both sides of the Pacific. It reached number one in nearly 25 countries, selling about 6 million copies worldwide—2 million of them in the United States"

Now who is the grumpy old man in this episode of noisy music kids lol?

He affected you.

I was going to say something deeper but I digress.

The North American bizarre political correctness that I've been avoiding on the net for five years which has been exported to the UK since then has now arrived at my shores in full force. They want to censor a word in the song 'A fairytale in New York.' A song so overplayed traditionally, I'd like the entire song to be censored; but that is no longer the point.

Baby it's cold outside supposedly has date rape overtones.

The radio have said nay. It shan't be censored to appease these feminists that have sprung up out the woodwork

It's ironic. I was wondering how long it would take to join the backwardness.

But there are lies that are never intended such as in science with false theories.
The pursuit of the truth is only a process of gradual revelation. You will have always some approximation of it until the final theory if that is possible.

So the ultimate objective is a better approximation of the truth.

Without the truth we have nothing. You cannot have a dependable thought process without the truth. If a society fears the truth it is because it has problems it needs to address. When children lie to their parents both sides have somehow failed each other or a third social structure fails both.

You can tell lies in order to protect a higher principle but you better be very sure you are not making your selfish gain that principle. Furthermore knowing what is selfish is not entirely trivially obvious always. But you can be getting better at i and recognizing when the higher ethical priority demands a lie.

Ultimately it is about not lying to yourself and the higher inner system that holds everything accountable across the entire system. Wisdom is what guides the ethical conduct. Wisdom requires effort and struggle.

Truth is something valuable that a free society must embrace and deal with its consequences responsibly.

Dont be a coward. Deal with the truth and defeat the reasons that make you afraid of it.

An empirical proposition:

Controlling for health and disability, consumers who highly value larger screens on mobile phones are the least productive members of society.

A more general version of this:

Again controlling for health and disability, consumers who highly value overall build quality of mobile phones are less productive members of society.

I acknowledge there's people who work in the mobile phone tech space who are highly productive and for who this would not be the case. However, this population is the minority of consumers and would not be sufficiently large to change the average.

I prefer larger screens because I read a lot of books and PDFs on my phone and am also above average in productivity as measured by income. What is the mechanism driving lower productivity in your view? Correlated with playing more games?

I’d rather study the behavior of minding other’s productivity. Can we make them work so hard to minding our productivity that they don’t have enough hours in a day to successfully do it?

I recently bought the larger iPhone 8+ bec it cost just a bit more and I carry a murse so I don't care about walking around w/ something that feels like a shoe box in my pocket. OTOH, I don't do anything productive at all except make jelly sandwiches for Howard Mom, so there is that.

Samsung make the new IPhone screen. The technology was invented by the British government. Nothing in your iPhone was invented by a capitalist per se. And the most productive people in society fall in the 95 percentile of the population. Brought to us 5 percenters cheaply from the warlords controlling the supply and demand of conflict minerals needed to make them. We each unbeknowningly own up to fifty slaves indirectly. The screen you are reading this message with is dripping in their blood. But such is life.

The remedy to their condition is to stop multiplying so heavily and embrace scientific society and free societies taking down their bs tyrants that make my TV screen so cheap. I dont care if i have to pay 400 and not 200. It is not my problem. I and my ideas did not cause this. I would pay 400 if it meant they got better wages. I am just fine with it coming from Japan or US or Germany and paying more. The ones that make it possible are the companies that take prices down to steal competition customers. If the customer knew with a 100% responsibly verifiable manner when they buy something it is built 100% more ethically they would select the better story and not the cheaper one.

But its better to pay them the cheap wages than nothing actually the way their societies are so poor and populated so heavily in poor conditions.

They will recover from it in time but they need to take population growth rate to 0.5% in Asia and Africa or it will get real ugly globally when they improve as consumers but not in overall misery and become heavy energy users also without a scientific society solution for all in place.

I had to use comp points before they fell off after a year so I crossed this off of my bucket list:

$210/oz at Talking Stick, the pirates. Over-rated, imo.
