BTM2 is an expert on fries so we need his input and critique on these Scampi fries thingies. They sound a bit wimpy to me and too lackluster as a complement to good Beer.

Dug up a few onions and fingerling potatoes from the garden.

I grow fingerlings because they not only are better tasting than say, russets, but most of my soil is sort of clayey and heavy and larger potatoes get too knobby under those conditions. Even a few of the fingerlings were knobby.

These potatoes and onions are great sautéed together with some olive oil and garlic and salt and pepper. Very yummy.

I'm growing three types of onions; white, yellow, and purple. And two types of fingerling potatoes; white and purple.

Congrats Zeno, enjoy! A beautiful thing to grow your own quality moments food. The effort is tremendous given the results in terms of actual food content but the quality in the moment experienced with all these will never be ignored and is completely missed by regular supermarket groceries. Any fruit trees in the garden? My parents have regular reports every week about their own produce and would fully salute your results if i linked it to them.

I have a Gravenstein apple tree and a pear tree. The wild plum and cherry trees I had to cut down, diseased and old. The apple tree may only last a few more years; it has a stump rot disease. So I'll be replacing fruit trees soon.

It appears that they are just poorly made Fritos.

That's outrageous. they aren't just poorly made

mith’s Crisps, makers of Scampi Fries, announced that the popular pub snack was not supposed to have been taken seriously, and that they were ‘frankly bewildered’ they have been able to sell them for so long.

The idea for the product had reportedly emerged at the end of an office chat about ‘the worst thing people would eat when pissed’ with a crisp covered with luminous artificial flavouring of day old shellfish that sticks to your teeth for days crowned winner. Smith’s apologised for the prank, ahead of the launch of their new Honey Roasted Rabbit Turd Crunchies.

For a poorly made weekend; start drinking now and don't stop until you reach saturation. Avoid fries. That will only add unwantedness to the mess.

Why does the human brain favour brands? Why do people tend to stick with the same brand of a product which has many similar brands? Only answers in terms of evolutionary psychology, please.

Yeah, but being born is what really eventually kills you. Anyway, My guess is ‘pattern recognition for a sense of familiar, and routine’. AKA convenience and comfort. The brands’ brand is satisfaction even if only suggested.

Solidarity with the tribe via its symbols, rituals, and propaganda. It is safer to be susceptible to brainwashing than not.

The suggestion that one is open to suggestion is the one to watch for.

(assuming that if people are ‘open to suggestion’ and can be made more open to suggestion with suggestion and less open to suggestion with awareness)

Predictability and alignment in preferences facilitates trust between members in a tribe.

Hard to trust someone whose behaviour is unpredictable or someone who has preferences for things that the tribe does not. For example, he may prefer to stab people, but the tribe does not share this preference. In this case he'd actually be more likely to get stabbed - by the tribe members - reducing the chances of tribe-differing preferences passing onto another generation.
