Forget the non serious drinkers, there's plenty of stuff for them and they wont touch our beer.

The real people need both beer and whisky. I'm looking for a sufficient amount for optimal coping. 24 good strong beers in baby bottles is obviosuly enough for one and obviously not enough for 10. Where's the line?

and no need to be sexist although my 'mercian niece sadly wont be there so you are in fact correct.

It's already delivered (including I suspect the last ever remaining supply of double jack in the uk (apart from what's in my house

)) . I'm going by tube (that's a train). More can be arranged but it's non-trivial.

I don't do that high level of maths theory, mostly making up for it with stunningly keen feelings based guesswork. Feels like you could easily get 40-45 Catholics to confess with such a spiritsual arsenal, but you talking to a runaway Presbyterian from the murcan heartland.

Christmas is a feast time, pure and simple. Nothing to do with religion. Christmas carols are still Christmassy, though. Most of the good ones are English, I presume.

Somewhere between 1.4 and 1.8. Perhaps more towards the upper limit as they are drinking in the metric system.

I thought we had plenty. Bit embaressed about that but very proud my nephew (who's providing half the beer to match my half) was concerned it wasn't enough.

He consoled himself that his dad will probably drink a lot of wine. That leaves 3 of us. I will have a word with the other drinker and tell him to step up.

Day goes from ~3pm to ~1am

What's the optimal beer to whisky ration and if there are enough gaps to tell should it be english or american chasing?

Beer makes titration much easier. This is important, since it is difficult to do proper chemistry when in the general vicinity of several people who don't know how to just sit and drink and shut the **** up.

Whisky should be, under such trying circumstances, used only as a last resort.

This is conceptually mistaken. It's not just about achohol or we might as well drink vodka. Good alcohol is wonderful to drink and then makes us feel good in addition to being drunk

A relatively recent discovery of mine was that good beer and good whisky combine to be greater than the sum of the parts. Why dont they teach this stuff at school?
