I assume you mean the origin of the word "erg."

It is also the sound you make when surprised by a blow to the solar plexus if you have recently eaten, but I think that is unrelated.

Disappointed as I was hoping there was a Dr. Erg as in Joule,ampere, Watt, curie, volt,.....someone lost out on that one.
