When the pursuit of greatness fails, through the emptiness of success, the great man goes back in time to the truths in the OP and tries again. Soon enough, he realizes emptiness is not just a product of the path(s) he’s chosen but is a fundamental aspect of this world.

In this way, the great man lives in the past and makes his stand against this world in the name of the truth. By doing this, the great man proves himself as the great man and his purpose begins to reveal itself to him.

So a good life, as discussed in Greek philosophy doesn't cut it; only a great life will do?

The idea of the good life is mismatched with where we are in the story of the soul. The good life is appropriate in peace time but this is the time of war.

Eventually it becomes clear that Jesus is the only human being in this world who has fully unified with the spirit of the great man.

Can anyone honestly say that they are living the good life when reality checks them and clears away the delusion?

Most of philosophy is done by people who have gotten to this point and decided to rationalize around it. The people who never admit their failure and never circle back were never meant to make it anyway. They will all be forgotten.

‘Who are you?’ or when anyone asks the question ‘Who am I’ they should recognise their answers won’t be who they really are. They can maybe start here.

Greatness requires you to first become a free agent and not simply a herd animal. Greatness then disentangles itself from freedom and attaches itself to destiny.

The one who values freedom must now sacrifice it. This feels like a test. To continue down this path requires the willingness to accept: (1) you are not the lead author of this story (2) you are being tested by this unknown author. This realization is horrifying and therefore resisted. Still, the truth remains — only the one destined for greatness has access to it.

Do you see now why the so called “great” philosophers abandoned this path of greatness, shifting their focus to the good? All of their work has been done in vain.

If you hate the great man, there is a good reason for it. It’s because during times of adversity, he walks right through the front door of your house and ravishes your possessions. He steals meaning, peace, joy. Like a thief in the night.

You both know he is more powerful than you, and if you try to face him, he judges and condemns you. For he has been watching you and knows about all your dirty laundry.

The only way to fight back against him is to identify with him and clean up your life so he has nothing on you. You can’t deny him by holding a narrative and belief system that doesn’t include him. He doesn’t respect boundaries. He will still enter your house and emasculate you.

Ultimately, there is no reason to fear him. He wants to unify with you for a higher purpose. But he won’t take no for an answer.

The human without a self is nothing.. like you said, but this isn’t supposed to be the punchline and end of the story. You have a self and the self has limitless potential. You are supposed to identify with the self, and when you do this, it’s no longer true to say you’re nothing.

Realizing you’re not the main character is the beginning, not the end.
