If true, its a pretty useless observation, and I've no idea how confession short-circuits the problem. Or why you think its a big part of Christianity...seems like its a SMALL part of Catholicism.

Confession helps you learn from your mistakes and become a better person.

I'll bet the stories you would tell would be very different from the stories the professors would tell.

But yeah, there are some real bone-headed ****s in some faculties, sadly. They are, of course, the exception rather than the rule. If nothing else, any professor with a PhD in philosophy is going to be able to handle this kindergarten-Socratic scenario. The idea of the prof getting all confused at these questions is ridiculous. Most anything that would confuse a professor in a given subject would fail to make a good story because only people in the field would understand it.

i agree. and i was actually talking more about profs that have it out for christians and the idea of God. i have encountered people like the one in the story that had it out for them and yet had horrible arguments that could easily be picked apart and were very elementary.

but i would not say that is the standard.
