My 1st pre line powered radio was a 5 tube 3 dial TRF job from the mid 20's. The first station I picked up on it in about 73 was KMOX in St. Louis (1120) the second station was WWL in New Orleans (870) they played country for the truckers, but as fill at the top of the hour would play part of "In The Mood"

Thanks for posting the clip, it brought back many happy memories.

i think I got WLS eventually. Those 3 dial TRF radios took a bit of luck to find a station. The dials were marked 0-100 with no meaning to the numbers. So KMOX might have been 72,65,70 and WWL might have been 58,47,53. And if you grabbed another set they would be different numbers. So you had to keep a log so you could find the station again.

Fun trivia WLS was owned by Sears, hence the call letters. Worlds Largest Store.

I regret missing you when you were in gods own country.

Visit again soon.

I regret it too. Zeno did have the good manners to ring me personally and apologize for his absence, however. A bunch of horse**** excuses about some mix-up over his hotel room(s), how the Dinner was not on the evening he had anticipated, and how the special Remembrance services in London that weekend were generally ****ing with his arrangements, etc.

Truth is the dinner could never have occured. Zeno is a twelve yo buddist monk frequently hallucinating the world around him. You are but screen-named fantasies to him and he will always awaken upon any close encounter.

Nah. They would toss a wet blanket on your testiness.

What you need is some escalation.

I retort Ha, with nobs on - - I think chez fled the country before I arrived. Something about going to Italy and brushing up on his contacts with the Mafioso.

I called lastcard as I was entering this great noodle house restaurant for dinner, or was it lunch. Anyway, all my excuses were legit sorry to say. No opportunity to lie off the cuff, which would have been more fun.

And yes, next visit will be a sure thing.

You hinting that I should go on one of my periodic rampages; despoiling virgins, looting temples, defacing statues, upsetting sacred cows and generally raining desolation and ruin upon the lower orders, like in PU for example? I must consult with my cabinet, then I'll get back to you on this.

Buddhist Monk of the yellow hat order I think. I'm older than twelve. But not by much.

Which brings me to my confession: I think a large percentage of posters on some 2+2 forums are between 15- 22 years old. It would explain a lot.

Need another beer.

Let me repeat that; Never owe me money, never welch:

Glad that confession is out of the way.

In a less than mundane enlightenment moment this morning, I realized that I am Aristophanes reincarnated.

It's soothing that I can bury this in a forgotten SMP thread to be resurrected at any appropriate or key moment. And for the historical record.

I may also have some Johnathan Swift hidden about in the folds and recesses of random portions of my brain. But only in canned spots. Not allover.

Ignore at your discretion.
