When Duke freshman sensation Zion Williamson blew out his sneaker and sprained his knee, all in one fell swoop, on Feb. 20 during the opening minute of the Blue Devils' contest against rival North Carolina, the reaction was predictable and deafening. Pleas for him to shut down his college career and prepare for the NBA, where he's expected to be drafted No. 1 this summer, came pouring out onto the internet from every angle.

Zion Williamson has a message for those folks.

"For the people that think I should just stop playing in college: thanks, but no thanks," Williamson said in an interview with NCAA that aired Thursday morning, hours before his expected return after a three-weeklong injury hiatus.

"When I'm out on that rectangle," he continued, "nothing else matters. It's just poetry in motion for me. It's what I love to do."

I’d take Giannis who is 25, 1 million of 1 million choices.

Like Ad is 24.

KAT, joker and embiid are 24 and 23.

Kawhi is only 27.

Like as good as Zion is I really think the odds of him being on average better than Giannis are slim. The others are more interesting. Ad has injury issues. Kat, joker seem like they’re missing something. Embiid obviously has injury issues.

I’m still worried about injury issues from Zion.

These predictions are really tough to make. Everybody thought Sam Bowie and Greg Oden and Ralph Sampson were the second coming of Kareem, and none were close. I think Zion is a fantastic college player, maybe one of the fifty best ever, but succeeding in the pros is an entirely different thing.

too bad they didn't give him a few feeds down low in the last minute or two, record they said is 15-15, Rozier at UofL who was a bizarre kind of player, almost like Darryl Dawkins or something. I still think Zion will have a few bad shooting games but that's a Zionesque return. I thought I coined a term with Alcindoresque, probably not, but this is the same kind of stuff. Too bad he didn't hit one more FT he would've joined the 30 point, zero FG miss club, which may only be one or a handful in history.
