Must be the only Duke player to have ever done that. Can't recall any other Duke player ever doing that. Nope. Not in one of the most famous games ever. Drawing a blank here. Let's leave that to just Zion.

I didn't mean EVER. I meant this year. I'm familiar with things like Walton's 21-22 in the Final Four (I saw it live), Laettner's 10-10 FG and 10-10 FT 30 point perfect game against UK in the elite 8 (I saw it live), etc.

What I meant was in this years stats all across the country, is anyone else doing this?? And certainly anyone doing it more than once in a flukey good game?

Well I guess I did talking about the historical nature of what he is doing. Gonna look up Walton ... he's obviously a good candidate to have done it multiple times.

Apologies, I misinterpreted your question. I haven’t seen another like that this year.

I was watching that Walton game on TV live: my father was a professor at UCLA and we were all big UCLA hoops fans.

Nah, no apologies. I wasn't clear and indeed had been mentioning the historic aspect of it. You know I had a memory of that Walton 21-22 game that I never found out if it was true or not. I thought he had been called for dunking (illegal then) on one of the alley-oops, which was disallowed under offensive basket interference call, of course had made the dunk, but it was ruled a miss officially. So he actually never missed in the game. Does that ring a bell at all with you??

You know, that game was kind of a coming out party for Walton. Though that was the last game of his junior year and UCLA still had never lost a game with Walton, they were up against some front line NBA talent in that game like never before. What was he going to do? Well, he did something about like Secretariat did that same year. Off the charts. GOAT stuff. Way better than GOAT stuff.

Just looked up Walton’s college stats. Had never seen them before. Him only averaging 2 made free throws a game his 2nd and 3rd years is mind blowing.

Especially since he was shooting in the 50s on free throws, somebody like Valvano might have done a hack-a-Walton. Funny, my analogy with Secretariat and these two GOAT performances happening the same year. Well, they also shared a nickname: Big Red. Anyway, when a player is shooting 65% from the field and 58% from the line, put his butt on the line. Odd to hear him now as an announcer saying, "MAKE A FREE THROW, PLEASE!" I'm not gonna call him a hypocrite, but it's a little odd.

I watched a short YouTube on that game last night. With no three-point rule and no dunking, the game is totally different. I don’t remember anything about the one missed shot, but that’s not to say it didn’t happen.

this one?

I think maybe he was called for a dunk so the basket was disallowed, which was not counted as a FG attempt, so he missed another shot somewhere along the line in the game. The whole game is on youtube, don't know if I'll watch it.

I no longer think Zion is the #1 overall pick. If he's literally too powerful for modern equipment (shoes) to contain him, then what's the point? He might have to play barefoot.

Even if he broke his foot in half i'd still take him #1. Zion on one foot is still better than the rest of the cast of scrubs in this draft.

Told you guys in TZ that his shoes blow up. I've seen this movie before. Not every detail was correct but that's the tradeoff of using 1st gen time travel technology.

And then the unthinkable happened. His shoes unlaced themselves, literally unraveling as he pirouetted face-first into the paint and fumbled the ball away

Didn't watch the game and haven't read any of this thread but Zion is nuts if he plays another second of college baskeball.

Check TZ imo.

Spoiler:

Zion should NOT play another second of college basketball. Everyone's made enough millions off him already. It's time for ZION to protect his own interests.

I wasn't sold on Scottie Pippen's opinion that Zion should sit out the rest of the season, but now, **** it, I'm all-in (McLovin). Or rather, I'm All-OUT.

Duke couldn't even provide suitable footwear for Zion. You think a genetic freak with the power of a chiseled 285 pound, 48 inch vertical, basketball player would have specialized shoes. If LeBron wanted to provide them for Zion it wouldn't even be allowed, because of AMATEURISM RULES by the lol NCAA.

**** the NCAA. **** this indentured servitude model where the best get exploited for millions every year.

**** this post, I don't wanna write. I'm outtie.

Here, NCAA.. :: tosses 🎤:: tell these fine poasters why watching college ball is something for me.

Not the first time that a bursting piece of Zion's apparel has caused injury. Last time he was at Golden Corral, his belt exploded from the enormous pressure of his expanding gut and killed a busboy.

That's why I hop into the VR time machine every now and then and bring you guys trip reports from the future: so you don't have to. It's still too dangerous for consumer use. The AI is trained to make informed guesses about certain details that are computationally-intractable on current hardware. I'll admit I'm rattled that it found Aaron Carter to be a mathematical isomorph of Obama as the token celebrity.

Let the flames begin:

Why Zion Williamson should never have worn Nike's PG 2.5

Quote:
Williamson has roughly worn 10 different Nike models this season, from the Adapt BB auto-lacing sneaker ($350) down to the Kyrie 5 ($130). From in-game photos, Williamson's pair of the player edition PG 2.5 in Duke's familiar white and blue colorway appear to be worn quite a bit, hence more give than usual in the midsole where separation occurred in a violent manner.
Quote:
The sneaker features a foam midsole with Nike's proprietary Zoom Air cushioning unit for responsiveness. At its MSRP, the PG 2.5 is not structured to last an entire college basketball season, much less multiple games — and practices — for a player as violent as Williamson in terms of cutting and stopping.

I am sure the Duke/Coach K and Nike contract is only million dollars a year so certainly doesn’t make sense to have someone around who is giving proper instructions to kids and their shoes.
