When I was younger I doubted this, but as I've gotten older and more experienced, I tend to think it's only a two or threefold exaggeration. One hooker a day for 30 years gets to 10000. He had the money. He had the stamina. To get to 20,0000 he basically had to have 2 a days continuously for 30 years; that's a bit less plausible, but if you figure it was true on weekends, he rested on Mondays, 10K is viable. More locally, 23 in 10 days is completely plausible, but would be very hard to sustain long term.

All kinds of things can happen with human beings. Awesome talent is not an automatic translation into years of professional success. If I was really going to bet it big, I would set it at 20K and give odds. Hope it's wrong. You gotta have the talent, check, the mind, ?, the health, some luck, etc. Derrick Rose, Grant Hill, Greg Oden, Sam Bowie, Lloyd Daniels, some playground legend Dr. J said was too much for him can't remember the name, etc. etc. Maybe the freakier the athlete is in terms of pushing the max human capacities, the more prone to trouble.
