Had read about this young basketball player for a few years. Now a freshman at Duke. Just saw a clip where he dunked from the foul line in practice (not a scrimmage, but like in the NBA All Star games). Considering that even the greatest pros have a hard time doing this, and usually step over the line, this will be a highlight for years, and Zion Williamson may be on his way to super stardom.

I suspect this thread will get resurrected a number of times until it reaches a point where it runs out for a decade or more.

I will bet on him to not be drafted in the top 3 in 2019.

I'm trying...lol. It will end soon enough. In free flow now, and getting it out of my system while I have the opportunity, and in the "zone".

Kind of a free shot, I would rather agree. But there will only be a few threads that can become a Lebron type of thread every decade or so, so I took my stand with this guy. I was thinking it might be a good idea to start a "moonshot" thread, where people can make wild predictions. The bitcoin thread started at 70 cents. The problem would be someone would say something like: "the Cleveland Browns will win back to back championships within the next five years", and that is just throwing spaghetti at the wall. It is hard to have insight and predict a highly improbable event. Maybe that would even make a good thread, where the most absurd predictions might end up getting there every ten years or so. Something like "the New England Patriots will go 4 and 12 this year, and Tom Brady will play every game....would be trophy and banquet worthy, for the winner. Limit one guess per poster per year. Not a bad idea. Everyone could vote on the best/least likely prediction.

Not the greatest thread, but Michael Jordan became a huge name very fast, and though I and others have heard of Zion Williamson, there is a real chance that he is "the one" for purposes that would make this thread worthy. I don't deserve a big prize for this thread, but let's just see how close I am as far as how big his name gets. We will know it within three or four months, for sure. I will get the dunce cap if wrong.

Good point...lots of similarities between MJ and Zion. Zion is a TANK.

How are his intangibles? If he’s not a degenerate gambler like MJ, bodes well for him.

Apparently he has done this before, but still impressed that it looks like he did not step over the line, like most all of the NBA players do. And he is just 18....and as the poster above said...built like a tank....about 285 pounds as we speak.

Here's a multi-angle view of the dunk. If this thread becomes worthy at all, this will not be close to his best highlight this year.

Looks like his foot is on the line.

If he develops a handle then thread’s got a shot.

Good catch.....but is it OVER the line, like most? I overstepped a tad, as I may have said "not over the line" (not sure). But we know that a tie goes to the runner, so if it was just on the line, still better than most I have seen in the NBA.

Kind of like those so called 360 dunks in the NBA contest...or online, not even close to legit 360 degree dunks. Zion got it done. Now that you mention it, there must be something to that line and its exact distance (obviously)....as it seems to be quite important...players are pushing the physical limits of this. I don't recall ever seeing a player pull it off while clearly being behind the line, let alone easily behind the line....though there could be examples. I'm sure many non-basketball players...elite jumpers of the world, could take up hoops for a day and pull this off, and be safely behind the line (I think). But for traditional basketball players, that line is "the line in the sand", and seems to do well in describing the physical limits of elite basketball players.

Agreed. Most go over the line.

Zion’s is one of the best I’ve seen.

all I know is no reason this dude should shoot less than 100% from the line this year, so thta's a plus

That's actually pretty funny. He ought to try it just to bring the house down...obviously wouldn't count, but would be the greatest. Maybe do it while up 12 against North Carolina with 10 seconds left, and slamming down a dunk and getting fouled.

Would be the greatest play ever, but Coach K (krizizooski...lol) would not allow it.
