i think, barring major confounders like injuries etc, that zion is >90% to go over barrett - really only due to 'it only takes 1' rule

tv tmac with a hot take is one thing, but i'd be stunned if many real decision makers actually agreed with it, and moreso if that was reflected in the balance of power in front offices

Yeah NBA teams are dumb and prefer Bagley or Trae Young to DONC so it’s possible. At this point (assuming no injuries) I would say Zion is pretty likely to get drafted ahead of Barrett.

Anyone concerned about Zion never developing a shot?

I’m getting Randle vibes from him a bit on O. Seems like he won’t be able to just drive and score at will against collapsing NBA defenses (and he’s not a playmaker at all for teammates).

On D, his DRTG and stocks are elite but he seems to ball watch a lot.

Just trying to troubleshoot bugs.

What is RJ Barrett good at? I don't see the hype: literally not one thing he does sticks out. He's a decent but not gr8 athlete; has average size for a NBA wing; can't shoot; average handle; not an elite defender-- i mean the kid reminds me of Corey Brewer tbh.

RJ has assistant manager at McRick’s equity after he busts out of the NBA.

Atleast one person sees what i see, dude is hyped for looking good vs college players who aren't even good enough to play in Lithuania although not showing even 1 skill that translates to the NBA haha.

Elite at driving to the hoop, finishing at the rim and drawing fouls. He has a lot of post moves and can get his shot off with ease, just needs to improve that shot.

wish I would have taken a screnshot last night. ESPN put up a side-by-side of ZION and RJ with similar points. ZION 11-13 for 25 points, RJ 9-22 for 24.

We need a new statistic for scoring 20+ in a game while missing 4 or fewer field goals, or 3 or fewer even. Zion leads the known universe. I think it's 8 of the first and 6 of the second category. Would be interested to know if anyone else in the country has done it more than once, or even once on the 3 or even 2 miss category. Zion doing it routinely.

*** Looked it up. Alcindor was doing things like that at UCLA, way north of 20 per game. Chamberlain nothing close in college, one year in pros. I could have lost something serious betting he only played one year in college, the 1957 NCAA finals loss ... then going to Globetrotters. But he played 2, the next year missing the tournament.

Remember, though, that in Alcindor’s day, freshmen could not play on the varsity— so you’re referring to alcindor’s second year in college.

I’m a duke homer and love watching Zion, but it’s hard to see how he ends up being better than Kareem or Wilt.

I think Walton has a case for best college player ever. Injuries hobbled him as a pro, but he was dominant in college — his teams didn’t lose a game from his junior year in high school until his senior year in college.

Going way back, but Walton was once 21-22 in a game, scoring 44. I’m not sure how many times he was within your parameters, but it wouldn’t shock me if either he or Alcindor fit the bill.
