The entire controversy about Obama being a citizen would not apply if Obama were born today. Current U.S. law would make Obama a U.S. citizen even if he were born in Kenya. The entire controversy about Obama not being a U.S. citizen was because at the time of Obama's birth U.S. law at the time made it so that Obama's mother was one year too young for Obama to be a natural born U.S. citizen if born outside the U.S. If Obama's mom were one year older it wouldn't have mattered where he was born.

McCain was born in Panama while it was a US territory so he was good. Didn't have anything to do with his parents as far as I know.
