grunching but the stop the game and add 5 seconds to the clock inside of 2 minutes is total AIDS. fans want to see hurry up late in the half/game, not stoppages after every play.

I think this is done quickly unless they have some untapped revenue stream that previous spring football leagues didn't. I am not aware that they have anything like that...

Meh, the presentation was solid. A few of the innovations were things the NFL is 100% going to steal like the NBA stole the 3pt line and Dunk contest from the ABA. If they keep it cheap and quick, I think it will have staying power, but never as a competitor to the NFL, which it doesn't seem like they're going for anyway.

NFL stole all the good things from XFL last time. In-game access, cable cams/skycams, camera men on the field, and player introductions. I could see them stealing the kick off even though it's kind of lame. No one died with the XFL kickoff this week vs. someone dying every week in the NFL.

It'll be interesting to see what the buzz/ratings are like when march madness rolls around and then the NBA/NHL/masters/MLB starting up during playoff weeks.

You definitely need a lot of scoring. More games like we saw on Saturday rather than Sunday.

The inside the replay booth as well as hearing interaction between coaches/players add another element to watching the game the NFL doesn't have and completely agree they will steal/adopt some parts of it. IMO those improved the experience of watching the game. As RT mentioned kickoff, I can see NFL looking at that too.

Also IMO embracing gambling is good for the XFL. Easy way to help create interest which clearly they need.

I think the XFL will last for at least 3 years than who knows. No way Vince let's it fold after 1 year again and he as said a few times, he plans to lose a good amount of money to help create the brand.

@onlydo2days. Couldn't agree more they need scoring. offenses looked pretty poor a lot of the times. As season progresses, hopefully they improve.

Regarding ratings, obviously first week so the real tale of the tape will be the drop off (last XFL go round the drop was...precipitous):

Easiest thing to steal are the changes to the XP and the communication with the replay both. Things like sideline interviews may be possible, but I can see the NFL and the NFLPA dismissing them as bush league and moving on.

Seattle seems awful, if David Stern (RIP) were running this thing then they would have the best team. Their fans have a track record of supporting non-big 4 league teams like the Sounders and the Link is an awesome place to watch a game obviously.

Biggest take away is that no matter the rules, coaches are just cowards.

Still had some terrible punts, despite new rules making punts worse.

Also, going for 1 is indefensible, other than in very specific late game circumstances, but yet teams almost always went for 1.

Makes sense since they are all like 70 year old retreads from the NFL who were cowards then.

The NFL will definitely steal some of the ideas. I really like the kickoffs and can't imagine the NFL not being all in on that with a full season of injury data.

Obviously I'd like the NFL to keep the current kickoffs and go back to running starts, but that's not going to happen.

They kept going for 1 and usually didn’t even make it when I was watching, which made it even funnier.

NFL going to steal the kick offs for sure simple and seems safer. Ratings decent, week 2 ratings will be more real. Mash those unders.

Seems going for 2 is clearly the best option. But isn't going for 3 even slightly better than going for 1? Only have to convert it like 17% of the time to make it worth more than going for 1. This is assuming teams can convert the 1 half the time.

There is zero chance going for 1 has double the make % of 2 which makes everyone going for 1 on par with NFL smarts. Going for 3 is probably better then 1 as well.
