BRAxHOL historically are always a great exciting match between 2 attacking teams but I expect this time to be a fairly boring 0x0, 1x0 kinda game
It's the type of game were an early goal could easily turn the match into a goal fest imo

On one hand its the only match before the tournament that we know won't have any impact on the winner. Also, as a player, I absolutely hated playing third place or consolation matches and didn't have any motivation. On the other hand, it serves as an encore performance for two teams that did very well, but didn't quite reach the final and is often very open and high-scoring because there is no pressure and teams just go for it.

Also, 2006 is a perfect example of why it is cool. The German hosts, who played the tournament in a very entertaining style, got to play another match in front of their fans and let legend Oliver Kahn start his final match for his country.
its crappy, no one takes it serious, there is no need for it.

Cruyff isnt happy about Holland either fwiw. He was most thrilled with Chile.

Wow I actually agree with Spewrious on this one.

3rd place games are meaningless and detract from the hype and tension building up to the World Cup Final.

if they had to do a fit and proper persons test for the england players and not just the owners of english clubs you wouldn't have many players left.

also nigeria president suspends the national team from competition for two years, blatter not going to like that. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...10/8777118.stm

yes. if they care. in this instance, players would rather be at home sulking and counting their money.

generally, I've enjoyed watching the bronze game more than the final.

I'm going to have to agree with the other posters and say that 3rd place game really do take away from the hype of the final. The players probably play halfassed.

3rd place game does provide a little extra sweat for golden boot bets

Seriously though, if memory serves the last at least 3 have been pretty entertaining.

Anyone taken a stab at a R16 best 11?

Kingson

Salcido
Tulio
Lucio
Sergio Ramos

Robben
Ramires
Schweinsteiger
Muller

Villa
Suarez

edit: could probably replace Tulio with Juan, but Tulio has been one of my favorite players this tournament...
edit edit: or Salcido with Contrao
