our keep-your-funding target was 6-8 medals, need the blokes to medal in the final event for 6. dunno if they have a chance

great britain is the big island

northern ireland is the top right bit of the island of ireland

together, great britain plus northern ireland make up the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland

Our leadoff runner is quite attractive. Number 2 a serious weak spot though.

They are the same. They don't just use UK because of the 'Team GB' brand.

i heard same as you at the time but turns out 'the third fastest team in history' was horse**** phrasing

only two countries have ever run faster relays, jamaica and usa. so technically we are the third fastest i guess? but both jam and usa have run better than our 47.48 loads of times with loads of different lineups. in fact usa ran 47.40 all the way back in 1992 (Michael Marsh, Leroy Burrell, Dennis Mitchell, Carl Lewis)

it was the 16th fastest time in history, still good but not what they were making it out to be

That makes a lot more sense tbh. My brain was struggling to comprehend how it was even possible.
