It's like putting tobasco on pizza (or flipping your sandwich) - you need to add some flavor and mix things up once in a while.
For example, in soccer terms, a poster like F60 is a "poacher" - he waits around to pounce on an opportunity to score (which in his case is the posting of a gif.). Now, that is a great thing in a vacuum as it is the perfect end to a scoring sequence.
However, F60 doesn't have the skill to create these opportunities on his own; he needs someone to set the table for him. Now that all the table setters are gone from the soccer threads, the gif collection just collects dust and F60 becomes an ordinary poster that does nothing compelling or worthwhile.
It's like what happened in Vietnam in the late 1990's: someone thought it would be a good idea to capture, kill (and obviously eat) all the snakes in the fields to reduce the threat to humans. Of course, once that was done, the fields were overrun by rats and they had a borderline famine on their hands.
We have a famine of creativity and ideas in the soccer threads.
