Like for no reason at all I remember you telling the story about witnessing your dad get his ass beat in the front yard when you were a kid. I just remember almost everything I hear or read. Hmmm. On reflection, my point about some blacks who have never run the 100m being better than the top white sprinters is absolute garbage.

Why lock the thread though. It's worthy of debate and any sports fan who claims never to have even thought about the issue is probably lying.

most impressive white guy sprint win by far is kenteris in the 200m final in sydney. all other runners in the final were black.

also op, caucasian does not mean white. indians are also caucasians yet can be darker than blacks. white is a social /cultural / religious / geographic concept (basically all native europeans). someone mentioned cr7 not being white. he is, just not nordic looking white (because of the medit climate). much as a thai looks very different from a korean person yet they are both asian.

I never was attracted to Asian girls until I constantly heard white guys talk about Asian girls and Asian girls talk about how they like white guys. Now, they are starting to look good imo. Besides, white women are all either ice princesses or white trash. There's like no middle ground.

Chase has called every season of Komets hockey except the inaugural one, and he has served as the team’s general manager. He has the No. 40 retired in his honor at Memorial Coliseum. He is also the former sports director at WOWO, which carries the Komets’ games.

Chase said he was saddened to learn at least one listener had contacted The Journal Gazette expressing dismay over Chase’s description.

“I don’t want to be inconsiderate to anybody,” Chase said. “This was part of our vocabulary for a lot of years. And if you haven’t lived (through WWII), it’s hard to understand.”

Chase said, however, people can be overly sensitive.

“I feel sad about (this) kind of a thing,” he said. “A little, teeny-weeny nitpicking moment. People don’t understand or are so sensitive that they lurk on every word so they can pounce, and that’s a spiteful person.”

Organizations like the Japanese American Citizens League decry the derogatory nature of “Jap.” But Koichiro Otani, a Japanese-born associate professor at IPFW in the department of public policy, doesn’t consider Chase’s remark particularly offensive.

“In the context of a hockey game, I don’t think of this as such a big thing,” Otani said. “He wasn’t referencing some really terrible attack. A play like this happens all the time in the course of a game, right? If someone brings a knife and he injures another person, that would be worse. ... Some people won’t like (him using ‘Jap’) but I don’t personally think it’s that offensive, no.”

Komets president Michael Franke couldn’t be reached for comment.

I browsed through this thread. I kinda agree with Michael Johnson. I grew up in a very multicultural diverse area and played a lot of pick up basketball. As a general rule, a black kid was WAY more likely to be very quick and explosive, but there were occasional white/hispanic/Asian kids who shared this trait.

In the 1972 Olympics white athletes won the 100m/200m sprints in both the men's and women's events. I think quite a lot of it is to do with tradition and self-belief. Presumably Kenyans share similar physical characteristics to other black people but they produce middle-distance runners rather than sprinters.
