why is that. he's still the GOAT and he's still richer than god.

the #1 pick in the 82 draft (worthy) signed a 7-year, $3.5M contract. the #1 pick in the '83 draft (sampson) was the highest-paid rookie in history at 4 yrs, $5M.

what exactly did MJ miss out on? and are you certain he wasn't "incentivized" to return? (somewhat compensating for the 2 years of mid-career salary I assume has something to do with your proclamation)

it's not like the endorsements ever stopped.

LeBron clearly likes to have fun and joke around. He was on the mic just joking around about ****.

Next thing you know we have millions of mouthbreathers screaming ZOMG HE PREDICTED 7 TITLES.

cliffs: life is results oriented and so is professional sports. that's why we like them so much.

I think it's funny that people are trying to hold Jordan's time at UNC against him, or his leaving basketball after his father died. with 4 more full seasons, MJ would have more than 6 rings.

or it was the culmination of a staggering display of arrogance. idk when exactly he said it during the hour-long telecast; i'll let one of you guys look that up. you clearly saw it as something else (speaking of mouth-breathing).

there are a ton of externalities that favor leaving, for sure. they wouldn't have affected lebron's earning but it would be tough convincing teammates to stay/come. my problem isn't with his leaving.

contrast the decision with MJ's return to basketball.

it's not hate. the decision was ridiculous on multiple levels. and what facts am I missing? it wasn't telecast live, with jim grey asking "questions"?

well, I guess technically espn isn't national tv. good point.

No, you're conflating two different events. The "not one" etc. was later, and not broadcast nationally. It was separate from the Decision (the next night, if I'm not mistaken).

Ray, are you even from Miami? If not you're truly sad for hugging brons nuts so hard. Mike Jordan wasn't good enough to go to the NBA out of hs but he was good enough to never lose in the finals, or really any championship level game (NCAA, Olympics).

the "not 1, not 2, etc" thing was not on "the decision", just a helpful bit of information, carry on

I think it should be copied whenever possible. More money for the kids and more rustled jimmies. I see no downside.

Critics immediately condemned James for it and referenced how Michael Jordan said he would have never done the same.

It only got worse once the Miami Heat, not LeBron James, decided to throw a welcome party for their three superstars. The organization was proud to be the franchise to acquire the three best players in that year's coveted free-agency class and they wanted to show it off to the public. In a spur-of-the-moment type of deal, the team threw a party for its three stars.

Wade, James and Bosh made a grand entrance, rising from the depths on a motorized platform, and were treated like rock stars, as adoring fans clamored for the chance to have some sort of contact with these three icons. Once the crowd had settled down, they proceeded to interview the trio, each one giving his own prediction of how things would turn out.

The one quote worth pointing out was James' "Not one, not two, not three..." speech.

so... your criticism of the guy with the most rings all-time (non-celtics-lolrules-era division) is that he should have been more "better than everybody else"?
