I don't mean in that sense. I understand players getting better/stronger/faster over time, and it's why I think comparing say, Babe Ruth to Barry Bonds, is pointless.
I mean recency bias in that a lot of Lebron fans see what he's doing now and underrate what Jordan did in the past, because they're not actually
seeing Jordan go out and completely dominate the rest of the league in real time. They don't get to go and watch last nights game winnner on twitter/youtube/espn from 10 different angles. It's easier to discount what he did because he's never doing anything new. Just cherry pick his flaws (he went 5-19 in game 6 of the finals once guyz!) and declare victory every time Lebron does something new and exciting.
In contrast, a lot of Jordan fans underrate what Lebron is doing because something something the league was tougher back then/players are soft now (lol), Jordan didn't lose in the finals, and basketball was so much better back when they were younger and cared about it (read: actually watched it) more. Cue 80s-90s music and a shot of nostalgia right to the heart.
