Will be annoying when everyone is laughing at a rookie QB not GOAT'ing it up. Dude is gonna be legit, though.. and in a few years time no one will be laughing at the Skins for this deal.

Can't really blame people for laughing at unrealistic failed expectations while we are posting in the Welcome to the RG3 era thread/liveblog/house of worship.

You're right. If the thread was phrased in a way that was more realistic "Rookie that could struggle but is gonna be legit eventually" or something it'd be more out of place. But if he has an amazing two games he'll be anointed by the other side.

Troll away.

I'll stop laughing when and if they put him in Canton. Short of that, STL jacked them.

Your blessing was never necessary for this to be trollfest central, 2012.

You never responded to my thoughts on the article before. I think you are wrong on this.

nothing cements the value of trading 2 first round picks and a second round pick to move up four spots in the draft like needing to wait 2 or 3 seasons to get anything out of it

If he is a top tier QB in 2 years its worth everything they traded.

But keep being condescending and completely ignoring the point.

You're also completely putting words into my mouth saying it is gonna take 2 or 3 seasons to get anything out of it. He won't be elite right off.. but he's gonna be the best QB they've had in ages and they improve immediately.

It's like people just choose to ignore how important franchise QB's are whenever they can troll in response.

Then they set themselves back a few years. But they weren't going to ever compete as is, anyways. They did not have a QB on the roster that could ever lead them to a SB and no top end FA was picking them.

I dunno.. but I assume, as a Redskin fan, they are excited about actually having some equity if they landed a top flight guy. I personally think he will be, but of course I don't know any better than anyone here.

I just can't see how people are down on them for going after someone they thought would be elite at the most important position in sports. The current path was not leading them to a division title or serious postseason run anytime soon. Making this move at least gives them a chance.

They could have used all those first round picks they traded to STL on QBs.

here's where the best 3 quarterbacks in 2011 were drated:

1st round 24 overall
2nd round 32 overall
6th round 199 overall

people tend to overrate the first few picks and underrate the rest. the nfl draft is not the nba draft.

rex grossman 2010-11

16 games started
265 completions/458 attempts
4035 yards
57.4 comp%
6.8 y/a
5.4 sack%
23 tds 3.9 td%
24 int 4.1 int%

i'm pretty sure if he was exactly as good as grossman it would be either the 3rd or 4th best rookie qb season of all time depending on your feelings about usage. but yeah he'll probably be an immediate improvement.

That's absurd

Let's actually look at the rest of the very good - elite QBs

Eli - 1st
Peyton - 1st
Stafford - 1st
Roethlisberger - 11th
Cutler - 11th
Rivers - 4th
Romo - UDFA
Schaub - 90th
Vick - 1st
Ryan - 3rd
Cam - 1st

Also lol @ Griffin not being an immediate upgrade to Grossman. You also left out his any/a of 4.9 from last year.

Rodgers was late first right? And wasn't Brady a 7th?

You can't make that post without showing all the scrubs drafted in the top 5 too

I'm making the point that it's incredibly difficult to find a very good to elite QB outside of the top half of the first round, and more specifically, the top 5 picks.

so 5 of the top 14 qbs were taken #1 overall and 7 of the top 14 qbs were taken in the first 4 picks. and that's if we're generous and still include peyton. and none of the other players are as good as brees, brady, or rodgers. this confirms my suspicion that nfl teams are not that good at figuring out which qbs they should be drafting.

and yeah a 4.9 any/a would be a really good rookie season. this board and the media were ballwashing bradford for putting up a 4.7 as a rookie and that was with him taking a lot less risks than grossamn was over the last couple seasons.

when none of the best 3 quarterbacks in the nfl have been drafted in the top 2/3/4/5/whatever then the presumption that you need a top 2/3/4/5/whatever pick to draft an elite qb is perhaps not correct

1st round very good/elite QBs-Eli, Peyton, Stafford, Big Rape, Cutler, Rivers, Vick, Rodgers, Ryan, Cam

Feel free to add to it.
