Not sure why the XFL is failing though. IMO the put on a pretty entertaining product and attendance seems to be good too. But TV ratings are probably >50% below what they had expected.
Let's see how the USFL does the next couple of weeks.
I remember going to a party on Sunday last year and one of the TVs randomly had the USFL on and my first thought was "this **** is still going? Who watches this?"
At least the XFL has some following and personality where the USFL is literally the most generic thing ever and has no visibility to the general public.
Maybe these spring leagues will just show that more football is actually worse. I'd love for the NFL to get rid of TNF and even MNF. It just gives that much more anticipation to an NFL Sunday and fewer games means each game means more.
Same reason I watch 5-10 minutes of preseason NFL. Once the novelty of "football is on" wears away you are left with an awful product that means absolutely nothing. The USFL is this except there isn't a novelty of football being on since the NFL ended 2 months ago.
At least the XFL starts immediately so anyone still craving football can have it, but I have no idea in the world why the USFL thinks it's a good idea to start the season right when NBA and NHL playoffs start and even baseball just beginning. A summer league from June to August just seems a million times better.
