Would think Phoenix aka Mexico would be in there as well. Hope NYC gets the final.

Chicago got ****ed over on the last bid in favor of Indy, I doubt that changes with this bid

Azteca not getting the final is a travesty. but other than that, i'm fine with the 60/10/10 split.

there won't be fake turf in this thing, but doesn't take 9+ years to put some grass in

and ya, could see it being Seattle OR Vancouver
both perhaps unlikely, but not totally impossible (especially with a larger field)

The proposed blueprint calls for 60 of the 80 games in the new expanded tournament format to be held in the U.S. with 10 going to Canada and 10 to Mexico.

"The final decisions on those things are up to FIFA. It's their tournament. But that will be our proposal and that is our agreement together," U.S. soccer president Sunil Gulati told a news conference

Their agreement calls for all games from the quarter-finals on to be held in the U.S.

something like Toronto 4, Montreal 3, Vancouver 3 if i had to guess
(maybe Edmonton instead of Vancouver if they go with Seattle, or in place of Montreal)

guess we'll have to see how the stadium situation is looking for 2026

In the end, it's pretty clear US Soccer felt this strengthened the bid, or they wouldn't have included Mexico and Canada at all. 10 games each isn't much, all QF+ games here, where they belong. I'm fine with it.

Would all 3 teams (AKA Canada since they're the ones who care) get an automatic qualifier? Seems pretty unfair to the rest of Concacaf if they do

50/15/15 would be pretty good, 5 games at a site.

Toronto
Montreal
Vancouver

Mexico City
Guadalajara
Monterrey

And 10 US cities.

They'll put grass in any stadium, been doing it for a couple of years with the Euro club summer friendlies in Meadowlands, Foxboro, Seattle, etc.

that's the goal of the bid afaik, guess we'll see what FIFA has to say about that

but they're thinking this might be a 48-team tournament, so less of a deal really

(and in that case, 'grats to whoever draws LolCanada!)

Soldier Field is plenty big for every game except the Final. Most World Cups have to use stadiums much smaller than what we have available.

They will put grass in any stadium, but there are frequent complaints about quality. I recall significant bitching about the temporary grass at Jerryworld

how sure are we that usa even gets it? vote isn't until 2020. and you'd think fifa would say FU trump (not that many other countries are doing similar things politically)

Why would fifa say fu to the US? They're hosting a WC in Qatar for ****'s sake.

They're all about getting paid so we actually probably won't get it.

because fifa is a social justice warrior organization, to a degree. they are more about expanding into foreign markets (qatar) than they are putting it in a country that just said people from countries xyz can't come here. Sure, qatar and russia aren't angels by any means, but FIFA much like many people looks past what they don't want to see to get to the narrative they do want. If it's something they want to like, they'll say soccer will make things "better", if it's something they don't want to like, they'll say FU you don't deserve it. 3 years is a long time until the vote, but I could see them holding US politics as a reason why we shouldn't get it.

I'm not trying to politard here and I'm neither R or D, but I think political perception of the world has a big influence on these votes.

FIFA is about nothing more than getting paid. Qatar is literally being built by slaves.
US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: USA #1 Quote

and they know trying to build soccer all over ends up giving them more $. But yes also, how much is USA and canada and mexico going to shell out for the bid anyway?

I mean, isn't it pretty common knowledge they can make the most legitimate money off having the World Cup here by far and it's not really even close?

If you're asking how much the USA is willing to grease the palms of the individuals in charge of such things then I'm not sure and I'd bet there are countries willing to offer more while bankrupting their people to use public funds to build unnecessary stadiums.

Lol at thinking trump or politics will reduce the chances of a USA#1 World Cup.
