Now that Beasley is back in MLS, are there any other Americans still playing Liga MX?

I wouldn't mind watching some more matches this year.

Besler is fine in MLS. If he was 19 it would be a different story. I know CBs mature later but at his age he's going to kind of be what he is developmentally.

Yep, if Besler was 23 I think him staying would be disappointing. As is though, I'm pretty neutral on it. While it's always better for our players to be getting time in Europe, it's good for the league for people to be able to follow the World Cup players at home.

Yedlin to Roma is a done deal. Looks like a loan to Seattle until next year.

Quote:
An American in Rome, it is DeAndre Yedlin. Operation now closed, but the final details have been defined: go to Seattle $ 5 million, with the player that will stop in America at least until next January. Then, the Roma will decide whether to leave Seattle until the end of the season, or park it in Italy to anticipate their acclimatization. Beat competition from Inter Milan and Napoli, Roma closed for Yedlin.

Awesome for Yedlin. Really excited to see what he can do. He's so blazing fast that if his skill level ever matches his natural speed/athleticism, he could be very, very good.

Yeah, surprised it flipped back to Roma so quickly but glad it's over with.

Yedlin did what he should've done against Spurs in the friendly this week, bombing down the side and getting good crosses in. They didn't get finished, but in a better league with better teammates than Lamar Neagle the hope is they will be.

It'll be interesting to see what his schedule is, whether they can clear out a non-EU spot (or he can get a Latvian passport) and he heads over in January or if he stays here until next summer.

As for other young players, EPB got 45 minutes against Man City. He didn't blow me away but also never looked out of place, which is a pretty good accomplishment for a 17 year old kid trying to mark Jovetic.

No transfer yet for Yedlin

"Rumors continue to swirl around U.S. national team defender DeAndre Yedlin, but sources have confirmed to Goal USA that the Seattle Sounders standout has yet to make a move."

Do we want TIMMAY to try for 2018?

I don't, I'd prefer he retire internationally either after the GC or after Copa America depending how he feels a year from now. I want Brad in there during qualifying and solidifying his role behind whatever our backline of the cycle is. Also gets an extra goalie involved in each camp which can't hurt Hamid/Johnson/Cooper/whoever. We've known Guzan was the heir apparent for quite some time now, but it remains unclear who is next guy is after that. No rush, obviously, but if Howard retires we do need to figure out who our legitimate backup is and start figuring out who our future starter may be. If Howard retired today, Rimando would still be the 2nd best US keeper, and we need to fix that. I haven't exactly watched much DCU this year, but all accounts are that Hamid has been huge.

I mean, toss that out the window if he's beasting for Everton in 2017, but in general I'd prefer to already know who the keeper is.

Rimando is a pretty great backup GK... But he's almost as old as Howard!

I love Timmy but I too wouldn't mind Guzan taking the reigns. Guzan is equally world class.

I wouldn't mind him pulling a Van der Sar if he really wanted to, but agreed we really need to make sure the next line of GKs, be it Hamid/Johnson/Cropper/Steffen is ready to step in once Guzan is out of the picture

watching the Sporting KC vs Toronto match. Michael Bradley and some guy name Odoru for Toronto are the best players on the field. Zusi doing reasonably well for SKC, Besler actually not doing that great. Gave too much space and got a little bit beat, contributed to a goal for Toronto.

I'm at bellagio and just watched a SPORTSCENTER highlight on the big screens in the sportsbook of LA v Sea and Omar G getting into it with Yedlin & Deuce, blind cheap shotting Yedlin to the ground. Is this recent? Anyone have cliffs? Too far away from screen for audio. Googling now.

Happened during tonight's Sounders/Galaxy match. Gonzo basically shoved/gave a shiver to Yedlin, who went down.

At that point, Dempsey comes running in and shoves Gonzo and it sort of turned into a small shoving contest.

Was crazy how legit pissed everyone looked (Yedlin, Gonzo and especially Dempsey).

He's not really that good yet. Tons of potential. Really needs three years training in Italy.

"Probably" ? No kidding. But he chose the better side, where he starts most of the time. Can't blame him.
