That he's the best we got coming up is cause for pessimism.

US soccer really is a couple decades and at least a generation away.

wtf was that pitch, disgraceful. looked shaggier than the area above dykestoys mom's ****.

lol @ torres when he scored. i dont know if he couldn't believe he actually scored a goal, or if that look was relief that he finally did.

welp, at least that's over now

What do you guys want to see on tuesday?

I was kinda thinking something like this:

dempsey/agudelo
donovan/edu/bradley/bedoya
lichaj/boca/goodson/dolo

or maybe..

wondo/agudelo up top with dempsey for bedoya and the same back 4

I can think of some other things too but of course we'll probably see gooch in the starting 11 and I'll consider hanging myself

Don't forget about his former PL club winning the league.

I'll be very very surprised if Bob doesn't start Jozy and Gooch.

but shouldn't this team already have a ****load of practice playing in teh empty bucket? what more practice is needed to go out with the empty bucket at this point against canada on tuesday. If they don't know how to play in it at this point then they need to stop being called up.

On the other hand. What is there to lose by playing with a lone striker and a 5 man midfield? if we look like ****, then we can scrap it and go back to the normal system by the 55-60th minute. But, if we're able to play decently and try to work it then we gain from that.

Like I noted earlier, this was the perfect match to experiment as its a no-lose situation. Its spain and spain of 2011 is better than spain of 2009. We know what we can do in our variant of the 442 so why not do something different and give it a go against spain. Its not like this wasn't foreseeable and what on earth was learned or gained by today?

I am very anti-Bradley. Would rather have had Maradona, so thats saying something.

But c'mon. This was some we don't belong stuff. At least give a dam and try to do something, anything to give the fans a reason to cheer. We might as well have laid in the fetal position for 90 minutes.

Not really, the team has been together for what, a week since camp began? Not to mention many of the less experienced players with a few caps actually don't have a ****load of experience in the empty bucket.

They don't have experience playing the usmnt style empty bucket because they suck.

And yet there's a good chance a few of them will see the field in the next two weeks.

Then we should play a style less reliant on them not sucking.
US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: USA #1 Quote

Yeah we will, mostly based on the fact the other team will suck.

how many teams in the US play a variant of the 442? like almost every single team. Wondo, Ream, and Lichaj are the only ones on the team with less than 5 caps. Are you telling me that the other 20 guys don't know how to play in bradley's variant of a 442? If that is truly the case then they don't belong on the national team

How many games did Wondo, Ream, and Lichaj play together? Or is a system a system no matter what so game time shouldn't matter? It's like cover 2 in football, just run the plays dammit! Geez.

Also, saying that my position is that they don't know how bradley's 442 is an intentional misstatement of my position, and I'm getting damn sick of this topic.

He's not the only forward we have "up and coming", he's just the only one currently involved in the NT set up. Teal Bunburry is another young striker, who opted to play for the US instead of Canada. A few others, Omar Salgado, Mike Grella, and Conor Doyle.

Salgado was the top pick in the last MLS draft. He's a 17 year old striker playing for Vancouver. Mike Grella is a 23 year old striker playing for Leeds. Doyle (who I am not very familiar with tbh) plays for Derby County and is 19.

There are a few others roaming around in MLS who are probably applicable as well. Nagbe is more a winger than forward, but he's another young talent. If we can somehow get Mwanga playing for us, thats another.

The US has some talent in the pipeline right now, don't be so pessimistic just because we got pwned by the best team in the world today.

I hear that, but how optimistic can you be (curb your enthusiasm). I guess I was expecting to have some optimism coming out of today but wtf.

On the betting line Spain just 55% to win btw. Hopefully that provides some perspective or you made some monies.
