I don't think we're necessarily trying to learn something, we're practicing the formation we're planning to play.

The howard commercial is pretty funny, I've definitely had those types of thoughts during a game.

I don't think this could have been a more embarrassing hour for US soccer with the pathetic first half display and then the nauseating Gulatti interview.

In terms of advancing US soccer, I think we do more by packing it in and losing 1-0 than what we are doing today. This result won't come across well with the public.

In terms of advancing the MNT, not more than a speed bump. I think we need to adjust to opponents though. Take a page from RM rather than ManU.

lol at people reading way too much into a friendly with a lot of our B and C squad players in there.

It's the best team in the world ffs

This game, win or lose, won't advance/hold back ussoccer at all.

Why play a lineup/style combination that has basically NO chance to work against the opposition. If we're going to play a B team, we can't play like our MF is Holden/MB/Landy/Dempsey/JJ against a team as good as Spain. It's not rocket surgery.

If your goal is to win, then yeah. If your goal is to have players gain experience in your system, then no.

What the **** does "system" have to do with anything if you're getting a new ******* ripped?

Hmmm, how could playing in the system benefit somebody later..... I dunno, too hard.

What "system" is there if we never have the ball? What exactly did anyone learn about playing with each other beyond "that guy isn't really that good?"

ETA: we needed 45 minute to learn that playing 2 up front when one is a lazy bastard is a bad idea against a team who you can't get the ball off of with your 2nd choice midfield?

A close game with the WC champs could definitely build some public momentum before a big tourney which we have a decent chance to win.

Bradley's strategy today has no chance of accomplishing anything. Howard seems to be the only one who cares.

What would they learn that would possibly apply to the gold cup if they parked the bus in a xmas tree sethy? Seriously, it's really not that hard. The goal of this game is to get ready for the gold cup. I don't think we're planning on playing a 4-6-0 against guadaloupe.

I mean sethy, if one of the second or third choice guys ends up in the starting lineup against Canada, what formation do you think we're playing?

What would they possibly learn for the Gold Cup in this game, full stop? That was an utter waste of 45 minutes of game time...

And funnily when we have something resembling our actual MF on the field it makes sense, but WHY PLAY A "SYSTEM" THAT HAS NO CHANCE OF SUCCESS GIVEN THE PERSONNEL?

What exactly are the lessons that said player learned in the first 45 minutes that would be applicable to playing against Canada?

John Harkes is the worst color guy ever. He should take some improv classes to improve his banter.

Playing in the 4-4-2 system...
