As a replied to you via PM, because you do nothing but troll, and do so in a spectacularly non-entertaining way.

I mean seriously, you just got banned for lame ass trolling, and your first few posts back are...lame ass trolling.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

The two biggest worries most USMNT fans are faced with are eased after two decent friendlies. With Ream, Chandler, and Lichaj all making strong performances our depth in the back is looking A LOT better and we finally have a young striker showing some potential again. I just hope one more young player can join the fight for the striker position with Altidore, Agudelo, and Davies (assuming Davies first two games in the MLS were an indication of his rehab).

Umm wut? Our 3 best players are in the midfield.

And yeah, the 4-4-2 will continue, probably even when Holden returns as long as Agudelo continues to show promise.

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

And the 4-4-2 (some may call it a 4-2-2-2 but nothing could possibly matter less than what you name a formation) that we play really becomes much more dangerous attacking wise when we have players like Chandler (and Lichaj, perhaps to a slightly lesser extent).

It makes sense for us to attack out of that shape, because we really don't have a trequartista (or #10 or whatever you want to call it) per se. Even Holden, is not naturally that type of player, and when he's out, we REALLY don't have anyone who can play there in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3ish type thing.

So the beauty of our 4-4-2 with attackingish fullbacks, is when, say Dempsey (or Landon or whoever) pulls central (as Dempsey always has done, regardless of the fullback behind him), Chandler tearing down the right flank does many excellent things for us.

Dempsey can get the ball in the "playmaking zone" and play a relatively easy ball for Chandler, who has shown great ability to get down the flank and get good service in.

Dempsey can attract attention from CMs, CBs etc. which allows someone else (Ream? MB, Landy etc.) to play that same ball for Chandler.

Chandler's rampaging run can attract the attention of the backline leaving Deuce more room to operate as a playmaker.

And Chandler's run expands the playing zone, stretching the defenders out and leaving more room in between them for Altidore and Agudelo to make little diagonal runs in behind, or check and receive the balls in dangerous areas, or check and combine with Deuce or etc. etc. etc.

In reality, these don't happen as if they were four distinct plays, but a little bit from each of them tends to happen and we become much much much more dangerous.

I don't see how we can play a one-striker system exclusively in the GC. There's going to be a lot of 4-4-2'ing up in this heezy.

Has Jozy ever looked good as a lone striker? Has anyone else? I feel like anytime we go 4-5-1 we're completely powerless offensively (though maybe that's just a function of using 4-5-1 against better teams and 4-4-2 against equals and weaker sides).

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

I said nobody in the midfield because I dont really see teams that leave that big of a gap in teh midfield as with USA did last game against ARG.

I basically saw like a 4-2---2-2

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

Excellent post by stak. Just some video to illustrate how the US is already comfortable using the strategy; they scored their first goal against Brazil in the Confed Cup final with something like this. RB (Spector) got very far forward and CD9 made a run toward the corner pole. Brazil clearly had attention up with Charlie which allowed Clint to find a space in the Brazil D and execute a nice finish from an excellent ball in from Spector. This is what we're hoping for from Chandler. "Lucky" is a word thrown around on these goals, but Dempsey is getting to the point where he makes a LOT of "lucky" plays on the end of balls like this. And it's certainly a better use of his time/work rate than watching him take on 3 guys with little support.

guzan needs to gtfo of villa and go to a club where he can play consistently. I wonder if he'd be able to fully stay in england right now since he doesn't get enough caps from the US to easily get a new work permit

Yeah, if he's there even on the bench he's there. ****, Eddie Johnson hasn't started in like a decade and he's still got a work permit.

Also, Hull apparently really like him and he's been doing a pretty damn good job there.

tone, the work permit only applies to teh current team you are with. If johnson or guzan get sold to another english club, then they'd be subjected to reapplying for a work permit

Re: US Men's National Soccer Team Thread: 2011 and Beyond

posted this the other day in the MLS thread, but don't know if too many saw it. anyway, Teal Bunbury back from injury (but still wearing a brace protecting his elbow), taking chances with ease against Vancouver.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir4cO2twCho#t=2m53s

pretty sick how good he looks. first chance he cuts in on his left foot and just misses the far corner. gets another chance on the other side 2 minutes later, and makes no mistake this time with his right foot. so, seems to be a pretty talented two-footed striker. and later in the 2nd half he makes a nice run, gets the pass, fake out the defender, cuts inside and slides it home short side with his left foot.

pretty impressive display in a hostile environment in Vancouver. now i'm gonna go back to crying because he won't be doing this kind of stuff for us for the next 10-15 years, but to us.

Yeah, well given the immigration rules that shouldn't be too surprising.

Announcers have an epic fail on the first goal. Just casually talking about whats coming up during halftime(like people care) and then the goal just comes out of nowhere since Bunbury really made an opportunity out of nothing, which catches them totally of guard. Then to compound this, they just casually mention it was a goal, zero excitement in announcing it, I mean you're a bitter Canadian, now sworn to dislike Bunbury and even you're excited!

Meh not too devastated over this tbh, mostly since I assumed like most he was going to choose Honduras all along. Promising talent, but the US youth ranks are relatively deep currently(whens the last time we could say this!!) so there was a chance he never even breaks into the US lineup, where as he is a near lock in Honduras.
