I don't see how it's meaningless when teams like Uruguay and France have struggled to make it there.

SPI caught up to Belgium pretty quickly. They are ranked > England, and I think that's true. I continue to be amazed at France's rating.

Reading over the Wiki of 2002, lol mehico. another DOS A CERO win by the good ol' USofA

lol at USA having more than 50% chance of going through.

I mean the easiest group they can get would be something like:

Holland
Switzerland
Iran

Im not sure USA is >50% even on that group. If they get something like

Spain
Belgium
Uruguay

gg

A normal group should be something like

Italy
Croatia
Japan

they get out of that group 35-40ish % of the time or something.

Probably has the most wim though which is why I'd bet they are dogs to advance but wouldn't bet they don't advance.

Also Howard seems like kinda a douchebag and is worse than Guzan. Beckerman is also a joke and all I can think when I see him is the Ras Trent snl video.
I'd be curious to see a list of the 40-50 teams you think are better than us. How good do you think Mexico has been over the past 10-15 years? Shouldn't they consistently destroy us if we're really that bad? Or do you think Mexico never belonged anywhere near the top 30 either?

Kind of sounds like you hate America.
I think he meant that we're actually much worse than top 30, and that he laughs at anyone that would rank the USA anywhere near that high. So I guess he thinks we're maybe 45th best or something like that.

USA is > Croatia and Japan. They're not much worse than Italy. I would HAMMER them if i got 3:2 on them advancing.

He just doesn't really know what he's talking about but likes to make bold declarative statements of value, this is par the course. Don't feed it.

look, if a group has Brazil, Argentina, Germany, or Spain you're in bad shape, bc then it's almost for sure 1 spot among 3. Every other group is totally fine with me.

I think if we avoid the big 4 we're >50%, if we get in a group w. one of the above, we're <50%. kinda that simple

Call a team 30th best, get asked to name 50 teams better

What are you basing that on? Croatia is preety strong imo. I havent seen them play since the euros but based on that performance alone they are better than USA.

Pretty sure that's your fault for using ambiguous phrasing

This is ridicoulously wrong.

If you get Brazil, Cape Verde and Bosnia you are in much better shape than if you get Argentina, Ghana and Belgium.

My gf's friend was just in Croatia and she said the guys weren't nearly as aggressive as in Western Europe or the US. Confirmed pussies.

+1000 to this in general , but I think Bosnia is a bad example, theyre really strong.

SPI has USA quite a bit higher. I've watched some of Croatia's qualification. USA has more depth, too, imo

I put Brazil and Argentina together as being less than 50% either way. Nice job handpicking specific best/worst case scenarios!

Key difference is the phrasing "knows what he's talking about".

I said Italy would be favored against us. If we wind up vs Croatia I will gladly bet you even money.

Italy, Bosnia and Cape Verde. Points remain. Italy is underrated imo btw.

Sir Garibaldi, what weaker team do you expect to qualify from Europe? Switzerland and who else?

ps: lol @ USA > Croatia.
