I thought Mexico was supposed to demolish this depleted US team? The very solid defensive effort from the US really surprised me, especially from a team that is supposedly only at 65% right now? Other than the stupid yellow at the end of the game from the sub to give Mexico a set piece and the should-have-been PK in the 75th, this US team really impressed me defensively. They really played the backline as a team without making stupid mistakes.

Has US gotten that much better defensively or is Mexico just not as good as people thought going into this WC qualifier?

this ****ing ref needs to get kidnapped after the game and get his head chopped off. im not even kiddding, so ****ing ridiculous that he thought the tackle was clean. give me a ****ing break.

im going to go ahead and reply to some of your posts now because i saw some LOL posts while i was banned and reading this thread.
why are u getting so worked up over a FIXED match? FIFA fixes hundreds per year. its just like watching wrestling. there is no other way a ref could be missing those calls. This is from a USA fan to. However, i'll take the result.

You're one of the smarter people in this thread, and I understand where you were going with this. But there is never an excuse for Beckerman.

They're all tough teams to beat, but the current Hex table is a bit misleading. We've got 4 from playing @Honduras, vs CRC and @Mexico. Panama has 5 points, but vs CRC, @Jamaica, vs Honduras. They have yet to play either of the big dogs.

Mexico is a Top 5 team (or whatever crazy stuff cruisin always says), didn't you realize that?

Dempsey was completely shot for the last 15 minutes or so. I would have preferred literally anyone on the bench to him, he couldn't move. Even Beckerman! And no, I'm not a fan either.

i'd really like to see that no-call penalty on a non-internet feed. looked like one to me, but the mexican announcers on my feed supported the no-call.

igual la seleccion mexicana no tenia ideas, le falto chispa totalmente. No es cierto, Cruizn?

I love that they're actually covering some international qualifying, but they really need some anchors who have the faintest clue about soccer

I know, would it be that hard to have their anchors have a 30 min per week training for a few months to know the terminology and what is a good goal/pass/tackle etc and who the good clubs/countries are? Gotta get with the times guys. Obviously the audience wants it, or they wouldn't be forced to show so much of it.

Beckerman isn't even qualified to ever be called into camp for a friendly, let alone sit the bench in a qualifier.

Neil Everett can do just fine covering paddling, surfing, volleyball and sumo. Soccer is apparently too much to handle, though.

If the US doesnt come out and play Mexico isn't a team that can unlock a defense well. In a more stretched game their wingers and hernandez can utilize space. Give them no space behind and they're in trouble. they are even more hopeless then spain on corners.

I meant for the weekends 2 matches. Like Stak below.
But even for the 3, pretty good.

I'd take that head-chopping threat seriously mods. Mexicans been known to do that.

Thoughts on tonight:

We didn't create a single good scoring chance. It was the least direct the USMNT has ever been. Our strikers rarely tried to take on a Mexican defender 1 on 1. I'm thinking of a couple Herculez possessions where he had the ball in space with 1 defender and instead passed backward 30 yards or so.

I'm nervous about this. We aren't Argentina or Brazil, but clearly Klinsi wants us to play a technical game. We're direct, we take people on and when we see space we go for it. Sure we had some nice flowing buildup movements at some points, but this version of US team isn't going to beat people by tiki-taka. Klinsmann seems to be shifting our style away from our strengths.

Did the US even get off any solid shots? All I remember is a couple of weak headers?

im too tilted right now to even bother replying to all your "LOLMEXICO" posts. the fact is that we are on another level and it showed tonight. no respected team comes into Azteca and plays like that. have some self respect and atleast attempt to win this game.

and i still stand by my Mexico is top 10 and will be top 5 within 5 years from now. When you have teams defending with 11 players in their own box for the whole game, you know you are are legit.

Enjoy your one point losers.
